Great walk, dog friendly, watch the cliffs. Also a top whale watching spot

Spectacular outlook north to Pat Morton & Byron Lighthouse; surfing, fishing, rock pools, picnicking, walking. Not so much a swimming beach, no lifeguards. The name 'Iron Peg' less familiar. Boulder Beach runs either side of Iron Peg. To the south is rock pools, less sand, more stones & boulders. North of Iron Peg is Boulder Beach proper, popular with surfers. Can walk north to Pat Morton & Lennox Head or south to Sharpes Beach. No amenities except tap & surfer's shower and no shops, steps or ramps. Bitumen carpark. Beach meets sand (depending on tide), boulders and bushland.

Lots of rocks, stones, pebbles, shells, pieces of ocean-dwelling animals, vegetation and (for me at least) unidentifiable ummm...things lol πŸ™ƒ No sand to get into your everything I visit often, as I find it peaceful and relaxing

"Iron Peg: Where the unbreakable spirit of the ocean meets the unwavering strength of the shore." If you're seeking a serene place to relax and savor the beach, this is the perfect spot. We went for rock fishing, and it's essential to bring a life jacket. Exercise caution as the rocks can be slippery, and the waves are quite strong. We were also lucky to witness dolphins and whales playing. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience.

I’d give it 6 stars if I could, it’s my absolute favorite place in the Ballina to Byron region. The beauty of the location is stunning, offering beautiful coastal walk trails, fishing and surfing. There is protection from most winds except for easterlies in the various nooks and crannies close by, dotted by rock pools, pebbles and sand. Climb to either of the adjacent nearby headlands for unparalleled views of ocean and whales etc. It is the happy place of many locals and a go to for a quick jump off the rocks into the sea for a swim. It is raw and iconic to this area.
