Gipps Street Recreation Precinct is a dog-friendly park in Claremont Meadows with an off-leash area where dogs can roam off lead and plenty of shade, with some time-based restrictions in place.
This place is so beautiful, well spaced out, and well planned. There are plenty of spaces to have a picnic or a gathering. Water bubbles for humans and dogs everywhere. Nice loop style walk. Lots of sporting fields, each area is fenced off or labelled nicely. Two separate off leash dog areas, one for big dogs and one for small dogs. There are doggy 💩 bags in the dog park as well as the entrance. Parking is present throughout the area and not just one spot. I look forward to watching the greenery grow. The place will look even more amazing once it does.
This park is really a good one! The best I've ever come across to be absolutely honest. This park has it all! They have a fenced off waterplay area with an awesome kids park including a flying fox. There are plenty of toilets around. There are fields aswell for football, soccer, netball and basketball courts. There are also multiple skateboard and places to ride scooters, aswell as all the paths to ride them around the whole precinct.w precinct. There are loads of shaded BBQ areas and drinking water via bubblers if needed. There are also sun baking beds just off the water play area. Whoever created this park needs an award for making such a fun packed place for the community to enjoy! Well done! Forgot to get more photos but attached are just some of the skatepark & a section of a basketball court.
Gipps Street Recreation Precinct and Skatepark is an absolute standout. The layout is incredibly diverse and offers something for every style of riding. The smooth, fast surface can feel a little slippery at first, but once you get used to it, it is perfect for flowing lines. There are a couple of well-designed bowls, a solid street section with plenty of obstacles to work with, and even a pump track for riders of all levels. The fun does not stop at the skate features. The surrounding precinct is full of extras, including a full basketball court, a netball court, and a great water play area that is ideal for cooling off on hot days. There is plenty of shade but could do with more trees I reckon, drinking bubblers, clean toilets, and well-designed open spaces. It is clear the council put real effort into creating a welcoming and family-friendly environment. Overall, it is a brilliant spot for skaters, riders, and families. It is easily one of the best recreational hubs in the area.
Great place to bring the kids, huge playground with lots to do plus a big splash park. Spaces to ride bikes, different sporting fields, basketball courts, walking paths, dog parks, barbecues, ice cream truck and heaps of parking. Generally quite a few people especially on weekends, but never feels overcrowded.
Absolutely, loved our visit to Gipps Street Recreation Precinct! A perfect spot for families — clean, spacious, and packed with great facilities. From multiple sports fields, basketball courts, and a skate park to a fun kids’ play area with swings and water features — it has something for everyone. Picnic areas are well set up with shaded tables, electric BBQs, clean toilets, and even an ice cream truck nearby. Plenty of parking too! We had an amazing time and will definitely be back. A top-notch spot for a picnic, play, or just a relaxing day out.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
