The rudest and most aggressive cafe owner I’ve seen. Avoid this terrible cafe shop! Yesterday morning, while I was paying cash for my coffee and croissant, I kindly request the female staff if she could count the coins which I believe around 10 dollars, as I thought they would be doing faster than I did, since I noticed other clients were waiting behind me. The staff kindly picked up the amount and then I gave the remaining by notes. The payment is made and order placed. However, a man called Woowoo, claimed to be the owner, stepped in, and said to me in a serious face “we don’t count coins for customers.” He also said if you go to bus you should prepare the coins ready. He also said customer is not king. I feel embarrassed by his aggressive attitude. I said this is my first time being there and will be my last time as well. Woowoo said it doesn’t matter they don’t care. Hey customers, since a cafe shop doesn’t care for customers, why bother go there to let their owner take advantage of making money out of your pocket and dine in their rude attitude? I admit it’s my most silly decision to go to this Coffee Root. BTW, their croissant is the worst I’ve ever had, too sweet and not crispy at all, tasting stale. Avoid Avoid Avoid this rude and careless cafe! Reply to the owner’s reply—he is lying, as he spent more than 15 minutes in arguing with me, which means the shop is not busy at all as he still had time to blame a client due to his bad attitude, and his so-called service standard is his own aggressive and rude standard. AND his recent reply further proves this point—he now publicly push away clients to choose other shops for croissant. Actually he is discriminating people paying coins, even the $10 value is a large amount that slows their transaction, according to Woowoo the owner. Of course I could have counted the coins myself and might spend more time in paying. But I put trust in the shop staff to pick up the amount herself more quickly than me, so I kindly requested the staff for help and she agreed. However, sadly, the owner couldn’t understand the client’s good intention but rudely blamed the client out of his own malicious imagination. Again, for all who value your money and time and life, Please Avoid This Terrible Cafe in Eastwood.

Such a welcoming the coffee root café with genuinely kind staff. The coffee was absolutely delicious smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. A place I’d happily come back to again and again.

I had a really disappointing experience here today. I ordered a dirty green tea latte, and the barista gave me a hot one. When I asked why, he said I didn’t mention “iced.” However, the menu photo clearly showed an iced drink with the name “dirty green tea latte”. I pointed at the photo to him when I explained, but the barista insisted it was my fault, which was very frustrating. Also, there’s no such thing as a “hot dirty latte” — “dirty” usually means espresso mixed with cold (condensed) milk. I hope the café can improve staff training and clarify their menu to avoid confusing customers in the future.

Frothy and creamy, with a silky mouthfeel. Even half an hour after finishing, I could still sense the coffee aroma in my throat. The sweet potato dessert was dense and not overly sweet — gone in three bites, and I could have easily had another.

The range of food is a bit limited, but all I tried was tasty. Coffee is well balanced for taste and flavour for me. I mostly enjoy flat white here because velvety milk the main barista makes is so nice. When I visited there, mostly was busy and crowded but staffs had nice attitude with smiling. If you visit there out of peak time, you can sit and enjoy good coffee there. If you enjoy hand-drip coffee by yourself, it would be a good choice to buy coffee bean there as well.
