A lovely little reserve for a walk, with plenty of birds and wildlife. We spotted a bush wallaby and lots of kookaburras. There are clean bathrooms and parking available. Nestled in Ryde, it’s a beautiful spot to enjoy nature.

What a hidden Gem. This wondferful reserve is teeming with fauna and flora. Great place to bring the kids to learn and understand nature. Must visit location. Parking opposite the reserve at Buffalo park with plenty of amenities.

Quite an enjoyable experience, where we were able to walk through a variety of terrains. I’d recommend going on a sunny day (or at least not a wet one). There are different trails/ tracks that you can take so it can be targeted to your needs. There is also a small parking lot outside and various areas to sit and enjoy some food as required!

We came on a warm Autumn day. We walked the Doyle loop which took about 60 minutes. I was with 3 kids, 11, 6 and 3. They all managed the walk. The trail led from the cool valley floor, past tree ferns and greenery and up to the ridge top with clearer forest. The path needed a a bit of a clamber up some rocky sections but taking your time most people would easily be able to crest the hill. Along the way there were some beautiful wild flowers, though you need to keep your eyes peeled for some of the smaller ones, there were also some colourful fungi, tree trunks and leaves. The kids loved sitting a looking at an Eastern dragon lizard, and listening for birds. Taking photos of the rocks and tree barks and flowers was a highlight for them all. The day we went the facilities were closed for maintenance. All in all with a location in the middle of the city and a range of other walks we will be back. A really nice family trip without too many other people around.
