Bulli Beach is a scenic Wollongong beach known for its sunrises, with a playground, shade and toilets nearby. Dogs are welcome on-leash at set times only as an orange-zone beach: in summer before 9am and after 6pm, and in winter before 9am and after 4pm. It makes a lovely spot for an early-morning or evening walk on the sand. A pretty on-leash beach for a timed visit.
On-leash only, at restricted times. In summer (September school holidays to Anzac Day): before 9am and after 6pm. In winter (the rest of the year): before 9am and after 4pm. Dogs are prohibited at all other times. Dogs are not permitted on rock platforms or within 100 metres of a lifeguard patrol zone.
Great caravan park, close to the beach, swimming pool at either end of the beach. Cafe at the caravan park & restaurant a short walk on headland.
Bulli Beach is one of those places that instantly makes you feel like you’re on holiday, even if you’ve only driven an hour from Sydney. Bulli Beach is a hidden gem just north of Wollongong. The sand is soft and golden, and the water is crystal clear—perfect for a swim or just relaxing by the shore. I especially loved the ocean pool at the southern end, which was calm and great for a peaceful dip. The beachside café (temporarily closed) serves delicious food and coffee with a view that’s hard to beat. There’s a shaded picnic area, a fun playground for the kids, and plenty of free parking, which made the whole day super easy and enjoyable. Everything was clean and well-maintained, and the vibe was peaceful without feeling too remote. Whether you're after a swim, a surf, or just a chill day out, Bulli Beach has it all. Highly recommend!
One of our favourite beaches in the area! You’ve got a rock pool, kids playground, cafe and plenty of walking/ biking/ swimming possibilities nearby- something for everyone! There are toilets underneath the cafe building and showers opposite the building.
I love all the sunrises at this beach and have been trying to take as many photos of them every day that I passed by here early morning for a walk. Sometimes there’s the dog scene in this photo and sometimes there isn’t either way even if it’s cloudy, the view from the headland looking over the beach itself is always breathtaking. We are so lucky to live within such a miraculous environment as this.
We stopped at the caravan park on the beach for a week so we could explore the area and we were very impressed great spot for exploring and ticked some bucket list things here!
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
