Belmont Wetlands State Park is a dog-friendly park in Redhead. Just 700m away, Nine Mile Beach is a great nearby beach to visit with your dog.
Dogs are only allowed to be off-leash in leash-free designated areas approved by Lake Macquarie City Council. Dogs must be on a leash and under effective control at all times in all other public places. Dogs are not permitted within 10 metres of playgrounds or BBQ areas, or within 400 metres of patrolled beaches. Dog owners must clean up after their dogs. A beautiful hidden gem around Newcastle. Wanted to write this review to thank the Rangers (Nicole and Graeme/Graham) who helped us get back to our car. We walked from the bushtucker garden to the beach but on our way back, lost the trail and went around in circles until finally getting back to the beach where thankfully the Rangers were present who drove us back to our car and gave us cold water and ice blocks. So thank you to both of you from me and my wife. Also, for those planning to visit, watch out for dead stonefish/spikey fish and their spines. I stepped on one but thankfully it was not that serious.
Belmont wetlands camp ground is amazing. Great facilities that are well maintained. Campsite was large and suitable for a family of 5. Access to beach close by and easy to navigate. The kids had plenty of room to play and totally enjoyed sliding down the sand dunes. Rangers couldn’t be more friendly and helpful during our stay. We will definitely be back
Fantastic new location, the rangers are super friendly and all the team. So close to the beach and excellent clean facilities, which get cleaned up twice daily. Totally enjoyed our trip and will definitely go back. Wish the people that camped near us were more considerate (unfortunately with noone on site all the time, some people make as much noise as they like). The park itself is fantastic lots of friendly wildlife and i highly recommend.
The sites were a good size and rangers patrolling constantly made us feel safe. We had to go out and buy sand pegs to hold down our tents due to the wind (only 30kmph). Normal tent pegs are not good enough, your tent will blow away. The amenities are very clean obviously due to the age of the campgrounds. However, 2 showers each for males and females is definitely not enough for the size of the campground. I am also hoping that a change area (benches with hooks) could be installed so as to free up the showers quickly. A kitchen area for washing up would also be nice as there are many people using the bathroom sinks to wash their pots and pans. The taps on each site were very convenient for quick wash ups.
New Campground is great, facilities are gorgeous. Only critisism we have, it would be nice to have a wash up kitchen and an after hours number as one of the other campers drove into the water taps on our site so we had to set up a temporary site on our friends aite until the next day.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
