Great spot. Took me by surprise. Big and spacious with plenty of seating, two bars, a kitchen, pool table, fish tank, lovely staff, great food, tv screens with sports on (cricket in December), weekday deals, and fans to keep you cool in the heat. Looks dog friendly given the water bowl. Photos taken on Christmas Eve, hence not a lot of patrons.

We have visited this place multiple times over the years. The atmosphere is always nice with a mix of students, locals, and people droping in for post work drinks. There is often cool music playing. The food has been consistently good with an excellent range of pub favourites. They certainly get extra points for being dog friendly. More bonus points for having a pool table, a fish tank, and an awesome outdoor area. The extensive range of beers is something that brings me back and is definitely a unique selling point when compared to some of the other local boozers in the area. The only small gripe I have is that I wish all the staff had better knowledge of the beers they serve. It makes a real difference when bar staff know basic things such as what beers are from Sydney breweries, what beers are from independent breweries, the different flavour profiles, etc. I would imagine having more clued up staff helps with quicker sales for the pub and demonstrates a commitment to excellence. To be fair, some of the bar staff do demonstrate excellent knowledge, so this issue is not across the board. This is the only reason I gave an average score for "Service." Having said that, I recommend you visit The Rose if you love beer, want a large and interesting pub with good food and a great atmosphere.

Lovely casual pub with great tap beer selection and fantastic outdoor courtyard. Came here for a lunch with friends and we were very happy! Large tables outside and lots of drinks to choose from. Food skewed a little pricey, but it was good and came out fairly quickly. Nice veggie options, too.

I recently visited and ordered a burger with fries. The burger itself was quite good – fresh, tasty, and well-cooked – definitely worth appreciating. However, I was really disappointed to be charged an extra $2 just for a tiny serving of mustard sauce on top of the already $25 burger. The portion of mustard was extremely small (barely a spoonful, as shown in the photo), and it feels unreasonable to charge that much for such a basic condiment that is usually included or offered complimentary in most places. While the food quality was solid, the pricing for extras left a very bad impression. When you’re already paying a premium for a burger, being charged this way for a simple sauce feels like poor value and takes away from the overall experience.

Nice pub in Chippendale with multiple areas and events. Popular with students and pre-theatre drinks and meals. Pizza's are good and the fish and chips are pretty good too. The bar staff is friendly. Bathrooms are clean and modern..just not as big as you think (watch the mirror!😄)
