The Great Northern Hotel

The best pub on the north shore. Great beer garden. Recently renovated especially upstairs with nice bars and private spaces. Plenty of space downstairs. Excellent bistro style food and parking nearby isn't too bad. Easy walk from Chatswood or Lane Cove.

We had a wonderful evening at the great Northern Hotel. It had a lovely atmosphere. Food was extremely quick to arrive and we had a meal of salmon and prawn curry, chicken schnitzel, nachos and beef burger with chips. They were all very tasty and bigger then your average pub portions. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. We sat in the courtyard underneath the big tree. It had beautiful lights hanging from it so it had a relaxing ambience. There is also seating inside with booths and these areas are Heritage English style with a lot of character. Would recommend the great Northern for drinks or dinner with family. It’s an iconic hotel on the lower North-shore..

Nice pub with great brews. Good rooms for occasions as well as nice general seating. Lots of screens and plenty of seating. Many promotions throughout the week including cheaper jugs and trivia etc. A little on the pricey side though they do have good service.

Good day everyone. The Great Northern Hotel is not only a hotel but also people likes to visit. Inside you can feel relaxed when you entered Inside. There has two sides to enter from the front door and another one is from the back. It's located at the intersection of four different directions. From the Pacific's Hwy and Mowbray road on the corner of the main road in Chatswood. Opposite there is a very old Church with Cemetery which is more than two hundred years old. Inside the hotel you can drinks and lot of food to choose. Behind there is a small garden with tables where you can sit down and relax and enjoy your food. A great place for relaxing with friendly staff. Welcome everyone and you will loved it.

This heritage-listed hotel not only has a charming ambience but also delivers exceptional customer service. A special shout-out to Will, who went above and beyond — he was kind, patient, and had such a positive attitude that made everyone feel welcome, especially the children. It’s rare to come across staff who genuinely care and take the time to make your visit enjoyable. The food was also fantastic, with a great variety and generous portions. Highly recommend this place for both its atmosphere and outstanding service! Kids eat free on Sunday too!
