Chirashi Don, Ox Tongue Don and Char Siu Don tastes pretty good. Chirashi Don - Sashimi taste fresh and favor of the rice are not overpower by vinegar. Ox Tongue Don with Yakiniku sauce - Savor tender, perfectly cooked ox tongue with a clean, non-oily finish. Char Siu Don - Unlike thinner preparations of other japanese restaurant, the thickness of the char siu are actually thicker than usual which allows for a satisfying taste.
Had my birthday dinner here with the family and everyone really enjoyed it. We ordered a selection of snacks including popcorn octopus, gobo chips, tuna Tataki , salmon tartare, pork belly skewers, grilled ox tongue, atka mackerel, spicy bbq corn and cold soba noodles. My favourite was the salmon tartare and the tuna Tataki. Dessert was a delicious crème brûlée, matcha mochis (delicious!) with hojicha ice cream and matcha pudding. I loved it all. To top it off, they turned the lights off, sang happy birthday and had flames going off in the kitchen with pots banging to add abit of drama. I normally don’t like people singing to me but this was pretty cool.
Robata Jones is a gem. If you’re after great Japanese food, especially grilled dishes, in a relaxed but vibrant setting, this is a solid pick. Definitely one of the better izakayas on the North Shore. Highly recommended — especially if you go with a group so you can try lots of things. It feels like being in Tokyo.
The menu offers a fantastic selection of traditional Japanese dishes, and grill items were a standout—cooked to perfection with a wonderful smoky flavor. I also loved the variety of small plates! The staff were friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal. I appreciated their recommendations, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, Robata Jones is a gem in Artarmon!
We went to this Japanese Izakaya and shared a few grilled dishes. If you don't mind small bones, the miso snapper is worth ordering. We found the dishes slightly too salty though and the premium ox tongue too chewy. This place can get busy, so bookings are recommended.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
