Lots of empty tables at 6.30pm on a weeknight. Cold night with storm rolling in. This location is in a collective of eateries. 2 possible patrons. 1 adult wanting entree, main and drink & child wanting a burger from Rascals opposite and wanting to eat with me his mum. Refused due to ‘against the rules’. Wanted us to sit out in the cold and windy storm. We left without ordering anything. Very disappointing. **Edit** As a family member was craving Italian, we decided to try again. 2 adults and 2 teens. Food was terrible! Tasted like it was warmed up microwave meals. No one finished their meals and some barely touched. Server didn’t seem interested or care. Confirmed- we will never be going back.
Unsure what’s happened but the gluten free offering at the Charlestown location has really gone down hill despite having a great reputation for being a safe place to dine for celiacs and gluten intolerant people. Recently ordered a gluten free pizza for delivery, they called 40 minutes after the order went through to say they had run out of gluten free bases and they were just going to put it on a normal base instead, to which we advised wasn’t an option. They said they could do us any kind of pasta instead with the same toppings as the pizza which was a bit strange. I just opted for a pasta dish on the menu instead making it abundantly clear that whatever pasta came had to be gluten free as the guy on the phone seemed to not grasp that the gluten was the issue, instead of the protein and sauce. Some time later a gf pasta arrived and was delicious so we chalked it up to a busy night, it happens! Ordered a gluten free pasta last week and was delivered a normal gluten pasta instead. Tonight tried to order again and gluten free pasta was removed from the options to order. I thought perhaps there must be a pasta prep change that made it no longer safe to cook gf pasta without contamination. Opted for a pizza instead knowing that sometimes that’s a cross contamination risk that’s easier for kitchens to manage, the base has changed and is fine though the previous one was better. The bottom of the base though was covered in mystery flour which was…unsettling to say the least and made it too risky to eat. Chili oil was also not included despite paying extra for it. Hamilton location seems to still be a delightful and safe gem for us with gluten issues. Won’t be dining with Charlestown again.
First time here for lunch. Definitely come back, the paste and Lasagna were both delicious and good serve sizes. The service was very friendly
In Forno at Charlestown was an amazing experience for mum and I today. The stone fire pizza with freshly made dough was delicious and the cocktails are very well made. The service was amazing and we will definitely be back!
