Bagnalls Beach
Bagnalls Beach sits on the sheltered side of Port Stephens, with consistently calm water and a soft sandy entry. The conditions remain gentle regardless of ocean swell outside the heads, making it a stable environment for dogs in the water. The adjacent reserve adds extra space to move and settle, giving it more of a destination feel compared to smaller beaches.

What people say
The sand is mostly shaded by trees, so not much of a need for an umbrella. The water is calm and shallow. Perfect for children.
Lovely beach with a beautiful forest walk and shade on the beach if needed. The bird life is extraordinary and the many dogs that come here to play in the sand and swim in the sea are always very entertaining to watch. Also great to have an amenities block on hand as well as a shady playground 👍
Beautiful place for a family with a dog. Very friendly people around. Kids can walk on the sea with low tide, very good for small toddlers. The water warms up really nice on the bay even in mid 20s temperatures in the summer.
Easily one of the best dog beaches I have been to. Super flat and every person and dog we met were really nice.
One of the best dog beaches I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. The afternoon I went it was so still and serene with plenty of friendly people and their dogs. It was fabulous listening to the waves gently lapping up onto the sand. My little Bella also loved it
