Thanks Unity for your friendly and helpful staff with good energy from fellow patrons for a great 2023 and hopefull for a great 2024. Loved the bands and hospitality with a great atmosphere in a historic setting doing best whilst renovating. Nice easy parking with a great kebab shop. Ha ha, not brave enough to do the Sunday politics in the pub yet as the founding venue for the Au Labor party but i enjoyed the Bob Hawk brewerey Its nice to feel the positive energy love from the free bands in solidarity with working class batlers who often can't afford to go out in these dire economic times. God Bless Neil the Electrical union and health/hospitality Union member from family principled tough love church principles DLP. Great local hub of the Balmain live music scene. Great jazz - longest jazz residency in the southern hemisphere at 45? 47? years and still running. Renovations ongoing, nearly completed. 1st Sunday of the month 3pm Big Band is an institution in the Sydney jazz scene. Bar snacks only, but they are ok with food brought in from outside, last time I checked. Lots of great takeaway within a block.
Great place for what it is, not trying to be a fancy restaurant just a classic Balmain pub with good people and delicious beer
Staff member Brendon laid hands on me and my friend, at 2:30 am may have to file a formal complaint with a solicitor, what he did is certainly assult me and possibly commited battery by Australian law standards, I’m going to file a formal complaint with police, outside he started grabbing my shirt and pushing me against a wall, I made no physical contact with him prior to him assaulting me, that employee is out of line so out of line, the fact an employee would actually assult a customer is insane in that moment I should’ve called the police, he spoke rudely the entire time, I’ve been to the unity many times and had a good time but he just ruined my whole experience and perspective of the place, I had 3 beers and he kicked us out.
I had a great time on a saturday night watching a live gig. The place was full with people drinking over a live band. What a vibe!
