What people say
The food here is amazing - we had the fritters and they did not disappoint - great portions and the coffee was also 10/10. Love that its dog friendly too. The only slight downside is there always seems to be a lot of very loud kids and can be a bit overwhelming if wanting a nice quiet brunch. Otherwise though a great gem in Balmain! Will definitely be back
Just took the kids to my friend’s restaurant — Contesssa Balmain, and I genuinely recommend it to everyone! The signature dishes are generous in portion and full of unique flavours — absolutely delicious! I especially recommend the tacos and prawn pasta — a must-try for anyone who loves spicy food. And don’t miss their super cute frog 🐸 coffee, perfect for visiting with kids! It’s definitely a great spot to check out during the holidays! 🌟 Address: 37 Darling St, Balmain
Consistently excellent! Contessa Cafe offers fantastic coffee and a delicious selection of breakfast, brunch, and lunch options. Their dishes, from perfectly cooked eggs to fresh granola and tasty sandwiches, are always on point. The cakes are also a treat. The service is incredibly friendly, making it a truly welcoming spot. A top choice for any meal!
I stumbled upon Costessa Balmain while exploring the charming streets of Balmain, and it turned out to be such a lovely surprise. I only ordered something light today an iced chocolate and a ham & cheese croissant but both were honestly amazing! The iced chocolate was rich and smooth, not too sweet, and super refreshing. The croissant was freshly baked, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a generous filling of ham and melted cheese. So satisfying! The vibe of the place is warm and welcoming, with a cozy local feel mixed with a touch of European chic. It’s the kind of spot where you just want to sit back, relax, and enjoy your drink. The staff were also really friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. If you’re visiting Sydney, I definitely recommend wandering around Balmain and making a stop at Costessa for a chill break and some great food it’s such a nice little escape!
Lunch mid-week. Not busy. The cafe has a great range of options with all day breakfast. We had a choice of seat and it was pleasant sitting in the window watching the world go by. Staff were quick to provide a menu and food arrived quickly. Food was good size, nicely presented and very tasty!
