We were staying at Kyah Hotel for 2 nights for our Anniversary and took advantage of the stay and dine offer. Our dinner at Blaq was sensational. We chose the $77 set menu with a choice of 2 smalls (hash brown and snapper) and 2 mains (fried chicken and Murray cod) plus a mouth watering dessert. The food was delicious and exactly what we would have chosen off the main menu. We added the brussel sprouts which were amazing, such an interesting flavour and perfect with the main dishes. We also tried out the cocktails and wine. The open, airy restaurant was busy for a Thursday night but not too noisy and looking out over the terrace was lovely. Staff were busy but still managed to keep up with the demand and were friendly and helpful. All in all our experience was one we will repeat sometime next year. Thanks for a night to remember.

We picked Blaq as a restaurant partly because it was half-way between ourselves in the Central West, and some friends in Sydney. What a great spot! The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing (We never made it to the bottom of our water without something swiftly bringing us another), the wait staff explained exactly how our set menu would work, and even checked in to make sure tha the pace of the courses was to our liking. Most importantly, the food itself was generous, tasty, and different, embracing a wide range of local/indigenous ingredients. Every course was lovely, but the Warrigal Green Curry was the absolute standout for me! It's rare that I go out for a "fancy" meal, but this one was 100% worth it!

BLAQ was a fantastic place to dine. The staff were incredibly attentive and genuinely friendly, making the whole experience feel relaxed and welcoming — never awkward for a moment. The atmosphere was vibrant and bustling, adding to the overall energy of the place. We ordered almost all the small dishes, and every single one was impressive. The standout was the beef cheek — perfectly prepared, tender, and rich, with a deep, flavourful consommé that tied everything together beautifully. The fried chicken was another highlight: two huge pieces fried and cooked to perfection, juicy and slightly pink inside in the best way. The curry and pickles served with it complemented the chicken perfectly. I would absolutely come back here every time I’m in the Blue Mountains. The food, service, and overall experience were that good.

Our first time here and Blaq is worth the drive to Blackheath from Sydney. Attached to the Kyah Hotel, it was in a beautiful garden setting Food was elevated. Nice flavours and creative pairings for the ingredients. Service was excellent and the staff could answer our questions regarding the menu. The menu is designed to be shared. Which I love as you can then taste a few things. . We would have wanted to tr everything in the small plates but alas! next time. The tuna wonton , and hash brown were on point. It really is worth sharing so you can get the bigger plates as well. We had the fried chicken, the lamb rack and a fish with a side of Brussel sprouts. Banana cake for dessert.

The food was amazing! We were there on a Tuesday, so had the Blaq out menu which gave us a good chance to try all of the small dishes and we loved it. The only thing that let the experience down was the service. The servers were very nice and friendly when serving you, but lacked the attentiveness around the dining room. One girl was on her phone at the bar, which we found didn’t fit the vibe that the restaurant was trying to give off. We had also mentioned in our booking that we were celebrating a special occasion, but nothing was done to acknowledge this. We didn’t mind, but just thought it was a bit pointless to ask if it didn’t matter anyway. Would still recommend because the food is amazing!
