BLAQ Restaurant & Bar is a pub in Blackheath with outdoor seating. It hasn't yet been confirmed as dog-friendly, so it's best to check with the venue before visiting.
We were staying at Kyah Hotel for 2 nights for our Anniversary and took advantage of the stay and dine offer. Our dinner at Blaq was sensational. We chose the $77 set menu with a choice of 2 smalls (hash brown and snapper) and 2 mains (fried chicken and Murray cod) plus a mouth watering dessert. The food was delicious and exactly what we would have chosen off the main menu. We added the brussel sprouts which were amazing, such an interesting flavour and perfect with the main dishes. We also tried out the cocktails and wine. The open, airy restaurant was busy for a Thursday night but not too noisy and looking out over the terrace was lovely. Staff were busy but still managed to keep up with the demand and were friendly and helpful. All in all our experience was one we will repeat sometime next year. Thanks for a night to remember.
Blaq is the best meal we’ve had anywhere this year. On a short break to do the Grand Clifftop walk we picked out a few local places to eat based on their Good Food Guide ratings. They nailed this one with every dish a hit. The only problem we had was narrowing down our choices as every dish appealed. The menu is a share plate set up of snacks, small bites and larger meals and staff provided great advice. Just about everything was gluten free or could be adapted, and we had a first class meal. They also have a small list of excellent wines by the glass. The space is strange, a 70s style motel that has been updated into a large room with a huge central bar, but this meant there was a lot of space between tables and even though there were a lot of families with young kids (school holidays) it was never noisy.
We enjoyed a delicious Valentine's Day dinner at Blaq last night. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and took the time to explain the menu well! All the food was very fresh and delicious, with lots of interesting and unique flavours. It's hard to pick a favourite, but I would rate the tuna belly, scallops and steak as my top three dishes! They also have a great selection of wine, cocktails and beers to accompany the meal. I'd definitely recommend this one for a nice date night! Anything you order will be delicious!
We booked this restaurant for my birthday after reading so many glowing online reviews, so our expectations were quite high. While the service and atmosphere were genuinely lovely, the food itself didn’t quite live up to the hype for us. I ordered the grass-fed steak, which unfortunately was quite chewy and lacked seasoning. The parsnip purée and overall presentation felt fairly average and somewhat hastily arranged. Personally, I prefer steak to be placed on top rather than smothered with a purée, giving diners the choice of how much to combine the flavours, and I also think side sauces and fries should be offered as standard. Overall, it was a pleasant experience thanks to the ambience and staff, but not somewhere I would rush back to, which is reflected in my rating.
We picked Blaq as a restaurant partly because it was half-way between ourselves in the Central West, and some friends in Sydney. What a great spot! The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing (We never made it to the bottom of our water without something swiftly bringing us another), the wait staff explained exactly how our set menu would work, and even checked in to make sure tha the pace of the courses was to our liking. Most importantly, the food itself was generous, tasty, and different, embracing a wide range of local/indigenous ingredients. Every course was lovely, but the Warrigal Green Curry was the absolute standout for me! It's rare that I go out for a "fancy" meal, but this one was 100% worth it!
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
