Bakehouse on Wentworth has a good collection of pies. Had the Beef + Guinness and Kangaroo. Both very good. The former has a broader range of flavors. The kangaroo had a tomato based sauce which complimented the meat. The carrot cake, recommended by staff, was super. Slightly springy on the inside and icing not too sweet. The flat white was ok- 3.5/5. We sat out the front, under the shade near the entrance. The young man serving us was friendly but in a genuine way. We could tell this by his reaction when we ask a question about directions which he could not answer. Nice kid! Would definitely return to sample more of their items.
It was already past 2pm when I dropped by, so the selection of pies was quite limited. I honestly forgot which one I got exactly, but it was savory, meaty, and incredibly satisfying. For around $11, it felt very worth it. I actually ate the pie the next day after getting home from my day trip. I reheated it and was so happy that it still tasted amazing. There was so much filling inside, and I was genuinely impressed that the pastry managed to hold everything together without becoming soggy or tearing apart. So that's two things that make a pie good! Definitely one of the better pies I’ve had around the Blue Mountains area! Would go back and recommend this to my friends and family! Sadly I didn't take a photo of the pie because it was that good, I gobbled everything so fast!
A quick stop in Blackheath for the gorgeous autumn leaves led us to this lovely bakery and cafe. Tried their feta quiche with sun-dried tomato, vegetable curry, and a delicious coffee on the side. took home some organic French sourdough too. If you're in the area, this spot is definitely worth checking out.
Best meat pie I have had in years. Bakehouse is very popular in Blackheat with a great selection of different pies. Pepper Steak had big chunks of beef and lovely peppery taste. 10/10
We love our local! They have such a good range - I’m a vego and they’ve got THREE different veggie pie options plus a spinach and ricotta roll. BUT my favourite by far is their savoury danish - the combination of bechamel sauce, cherry tomatoes and soft flaky pastry is bliss! It’s sorta a sweet/savoury combination and I definitely recommend trying it! Very good barista at the moment - good coffee, and made my hot chocolate extra chocolate-y as requested :) You do need to expect to pay $9+ for a pie - but they aren’t like a standard pie shop. One pie is going to leave you feeling satisfied! They are bigger and much more hearty (so much filling) - so, you pay for what you get - it’s more like a meal :) especially with the range of options you can get - pastry is just the vessel for the creative fillings they have!
