Came here for dinner on the weekend and the restaurant had a very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere to it. Getting here by car was pretty convenient as it was located on level 1 inside the IHG hotel and there was plenty of street parking as well. Food was slightly above average. Was a little disappointed with the beef tartare as the taste wasn’t that flavourful compared to others that I have had in the past. Steak was also nothing to write home about. However, spaghetti and salmon were spot on though and the server was super friendly and approachable. Overall would likely come back in the future as I had a great time!
I LOVE making my own juice at this fabulous buffet brekky at the Intercontinental Double Bay, with so muchfresh fruit & veg and extremely easy-to-use juicer. Smoked salmon is beautiful here. The rest of the buffet has everything you could ever want. Also great, friendly and fast service.
I absolutely love having breakfast at The Bar Double Bay whenever I stay at the Intercontinental Hotel. I've visited many times and have noticed significant improvements in both service and food quality over the past year. Breakfast is available for hotel guests, and walk-ins are also warmly welcomed. There are two options for breakfast: a full buffet complemented by a small menu for extra hot dishes, or a more extensive à la carte menu. The breakfast area and bar area are both spacious and cozy, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The service is attentive, and the food is of great quality. However, I did find the dairy-free scrambled eggs I ordered a few times to have an unpleasant texture and a strange taste. It may be due to the special recipe the chef uses, but it just wasn't to my liking. Overall, I highly recommend this place for breakfast with family, friends, or even for a business meeting. It’s open all day after breakfast ends at 10:30 AM, serving high tea, lunch and dinner as well. The drinks and wine list are fantastic, and they feature live music on weekends. Thank you, team! 😊
Better than expected. Sure the staff are raw, and the atmosphere a little dull. But the food was excellent between the fish, steak and chicken. Sauces delicious. Wine selection varied, lots of French stuff. Even had a tasting for a glass which is rare. The place is quiet enough for intimate chats.
Prior to booking a table at The Bar through TheFork’s Go Fooding promotion, it wouldn’t have occurred to us to ever visit this hidden gem of a restaurant! Upon arriving at the restaurant, you feel like you are stepping onto the set of Moulin Rouge. Rich red velvety curtains with matching carpet and pink velvety chairs adorn the decor of the restaurant, giving it a very feminine and opulent vibe. I was in love! 😍 The restaurant menu is simple and elegant yet with a good variety of selection. My husband and I ordered: Drinks * Yuzu Spritz * Tuscan Entrees * Shark Bay Ebi Prawn Cocktail * Beef Wagyu Tartare, Sapphire Potato Crisps, Fermented Chilli Main * Chimichurri Lamb Cutlets & Chilli Labna * “The Bar Steak” Angus Grassfed Dry Age Cafe de Paris Sides * Truffled Fries and Pecorino Dessert * Chocolate and Hazelnut Mille-feuille * Earl Grey Ice-Cream, Zokoko Chocolate, Salted Caramel Our cocktails were refreshing and I loved my Yuzu Spritz. When a cocktail doesn’t have a strong alcoholic taste that is a real big plus in my books! My husband liked his Tuscan cocktail although I felt as though both cocktails were a little small. It could have been a bit more generous. The Prawn Cocktail my husband had was a throwback dish with 60s-80s feels but had very big and juicy fresh prawns with a side of salad in the cocktail glass. It was fresh and delicious. I loved my Wagyu Tartare. My husband said it reminded him of a burger to which I agree! Very tasty when the individual ingredients were mixed together and was a fantastic way to start the meal. My steak was cooked to perfection for medium rare. The steak had a rich Cafe de Paris butter drizzled generously on top. It was liquid gold. It was so brilliant for a non-Wagyu steak in which I knew I’d be thinking and longing for this dish for a long time to come! My husband’s lamb cutlets were also juicy and tender. Very moreish. Both dishes were served with minimal veggies so the truffle fries on the side to share was a very good addition to our lunch. The chocolate and hazelnut mille-feuille had a beautiful crispy pastry with delicious creamy pastry cream. It was very generous in size. We both enjoyed this dish immensely. The Earl Grey ice-cream was delicious BUT it was extremely expensive, clocking in at $24 for 1 x scoop of ice-cream! In our honest opinion, this one was NOT worth $24! There weren’t any luxury ingredients in this dish to justify the steep price! Reflecting on our experience at The Bar, it was a gorgeous dining experience with the waitstaff all extremely attentive and professional, with a special shoutout to Manekshaw who recommended the Tuscan cocktail to my husband after informing him that the Venetian cocktail he originally wanted was not available with the lime foam so we went with her recommendation. Manekshaw was extremely attentive and always making sure we were happy with our meals. One of the highlights of her service was when we went to settle the bill, she knew that we had TheFork’s Go Fooding promotion, hence making it the first time in which I didn’t have to tell the waitstaff that the bill needed a discount adjustment! The ambience makes you want to stay for hours on end because of how comfortable and inviting it is although the price for the food and drinks were very expensive for what it is. I would only go there again if there was a special offer like the TheFork’s Go Fooding promotion as I don’t feel as though it’s worth paying full price.
