Went for Lunch in early January 2026 at Margaret, Double Bay, with a party of three. They asked about dietary requirements/allergies on seating which a nice thoughtful touch. Staff were lovely and attentive (water glasses always refilled), though our waiter was hard to understand amid the noise, and we waited ~10 mins for EFTPOS after getting the bill. Entrees shone: steak tartare, potato rosti, and buffalo mozzarella, all delicious. Sides with the steak (corn, mac and cheese, pumpkin) were highlights and perfectly executed. Desserts (banoffee pudding and peach tart) were outstanding, the real saving grace. Presentation was 10/10 everywhere. But the 800g CopperTree wagyu ($320), part of the “second-best steak in the world” ranking, disappointed: gritty, sinewy, extremely chewy (only middle tender). Massively overpriced. Vibe felt noisy (had to shout), no tablecloth on our table (unlike windows), waitstaff brushing past/kicking chair repeatedly was very distracting. 2.5/5. Great for entrees/sides/desserts if nearby, but the steak fell short of expectations. Won’t return soon.

It was a hot summers day and a part of 10 of us sat outside. Despite the heat the food was incredible- oysters were fresh and delicious. Entrees included bresola, spinach and pine nut pie, the most insane mozzarella pear and nuts and beetroot. Our waiter Christain was amazing. Nothing was a problem for him and everything was delivered promptly and with a smile. Mains steak flat head fish and Coral trout. All amazing. Margaret’s is a special place. If you want to pay for a great meal this is a place to go.

A beautifully curated dining experience in Double Bay. Every dish was refined with clean, elegant flavours that truly showcased the quality of the ingredients. The service was warm and professional, and the intimate atmosphere made the night feel extra special. A truly memorable meal, absolutely worth a visit. 👍❤️ Just a little sad that no one said goodbye as I was leaving the restaurant 🥲

I had a great meal at Margaret Restaurant. The food tasted really good and looked nice on the plate. The staff were friendly and helped me choose from the menu. It was quite busy inside, and the outside tables were a bit cold. I recommend booking a table if you go on the weekend or in the evening. I liked everything I ordered, the tuna dish was my least favorite, which was just okay. Overall, I was happy with the food and service.

I usually try not to have high expectations for restaurants — the higher the expectation, the greater the disappointment. But this place was a wonderful surprise! Every single dish we ordered was delicious, not a single miss. The service and ambiance were also excellent, and they even gave us a little cupcake for the birthday celebration. The whole dining experience was delightful, and I’ll definitely be back.
