Love Fish – Brilliant Food, Bring a Fan Love Fish absolutely nails what matters most: the food and the wine. The wine list is excellent, the dishes are genuinely impressive, and the service is warm and efficient without hovering. But the verandah… mate. Boiling hot, blinds up, no fans, and I was melting faster than the ice in my water.. If you’re outside on a warm day, prepare to slow‑cook. The Food (aka the reason you go) - GF Salt & Pepper Squid – Don’t hesitate. It’s every bit as good as the regular version, light, crisp, and properly seasoned. - Salmon Hash Cakes – Aaaamazing. One of those dishes you start planning to reorder before you’ve even finished the first bite. - Olives to start – Simple, salty, perfect with a drink. - Fish & Chips – Exactly what it says on the tin: classic fish and chips, no twists, no fuss. - Crisp Skin Salmon & Asparagus, beautifully cooked, under cooked to perfection, skin crackling like pork crackling, asparagus done just right. - Hapuku Fillet – Beautifully cooked, melt‑in‑the‑mouth stuff. - Whole NZ Flat Fish – Brilliant. Cooked Mediterranean‑style with tomatoes and herbs, perfectly done, and the kind of dish that makes you stop mid‑conversation just to appreciate it. - Sides – We skipped them in favour of more starters, but they looked solid if you’re that way inclined. Drinks A dry rosé washed everything down beautifully. Great pairing with the seafood and the heat (even if the heat was doing its best to finish me off). Service Friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. No complaints here. The Only Downside The verandah. Lovely view, but on a hot day it turns into a slow‑roast chamber. A couple of fans or dropping the blinds would turn the experience from “delicious but sweaty” into “perfect”. --- Verdict Love Fish delivers exceptional food and wine with solid service. Just pick your seating wisely unless you enjoy being basted in your own juices. If you’re there for the seafood (and you should be), you’ll walk away happy.
Prasu was a brilliant waitress who offered great service. The food oozed flavour from the mains to the desserts. Highly recommend the chicken to die for. Plus the coconut ice cream amazing One of the top most food experiences we have ever had.
We dropped in here on Australia Day for lunch without a booking. The staff were lovely and we were attended to many times while waiting. The food was SO good! Not cheap but not overly expensive either. Barramundi was really special and even though it’s a seafood focused restaurant the wagu beef pasta was delicious! We had a wonderful experience- totally recommend!
We visited love.fish while in Australia in November last year and had a really lovely experience. The food was good and the ambiance was great. It was windy when we were there, which made sitting outside feel extra comfy and relaxing. The staff were very accommodating, and it was also my first time trying barramundi, which I ended up really liking. Overall, a great spot for good food and a chill dining experience.
We tried the sample menu so that we can taste the restaurant’s highlights. All the starters are amazing. The fish for the main is great. But, salad and carbohydrate (pasta) for the main is pretty standard. We enjoyed the dessert. They have a good selection of wines.
