Darwins Walk is a scenic on-leash track in Wentworth Falls, following the creek past small waterfalls, boardwalk sections and iron footbridges. The rebuilt route is fairly gentle overall, with one section of stairs and plenty of leafy detail along the way. It is one of the stronger local options when you want a proper dog-friendly walk rather than a park loop.

Dog rules

In the Blue Mountains, dogs must be on a leash in all public areas unless in a specifically designated off-leash zone. Darwins Walk is a Blue Mountains City Council project page; dogs are welcome on-leash. Easy kid and dog friendly walk.🐕🐾🐩🦮👧👶🧑‍🧒‍🧒🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Lovely viewing from the many tiny iron bridges along the walk. Lovely waterfalls and trees with fairly flat path. There is one section of stairs which are a bit of a challenge but okay with a few rests. Lots of kids and dogs along the path. Small dogs may need to be carried over the bridges due to the metal pattern on bridges as there are small holes that tiny paws could get stuck in. Great walk and top it off with lunch at the Conservation Hut.

We were so excited to go back to Darwin’s walk as it was closed for repairs for a few years. New track is combination of board walk, some stairs, connecting bridges, stone stepping stones etc and compared to old one it feels too “urbanised”. We were sorry to see that some of old tall pine trees were cut down at the beginning of the track🥹. However we still enjoyed walking along the creek towards the Weeping rock waterfall. It is medium grade, approximately one hour or so in one direction. Parts of the walk are not dogs accessible. Walk is otherwise short distance from Wentworth train station so convenient if you’re not driving to get there.

Great walk to intro the blue mountains or to escape modernity, easy, child and age friendly (but not disabled friendly), look out to birds and animals. Walk from WF station and back up Falls Road and enjoy the private gardens on the way back.

The Charles Darwin Walk to Wentworth Falls is a fantastic, easy-going trek that delivers incredible views without the heavy strain. The trail is well-maintained and mostly flat, making it perfectly suitable for kids and families. You'll enjoy a beautiful mix of boardwalks, creek-side paths, and stunning cliff-edge lookouts.
