Bonna Point Reserve in Kurnell is an excellent, family-friendly destination that successfully combines modern recreational facilities with the natural beauty and historical significance of the Botany Bay foreshore. It's especially renowned for its state-of-the-art playground and ample open space. 🏞️ Overview and Atmosphere The reserve is a large, grassy open space located near Silver Beach and the Bonna Point boat ramp. It offers a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, making it ideal for a casual day out, family gatherings, or picnics. Visitors appreciate the stunning coastal views, which often include the Sydney city skyline and opportunities for plane spotting due to its proximity to the airport. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Key Attractions and Amenities The standout feature of Bonna Point Reserve is the premium, regional playground. Playground: It caters to all ages and abilities, featuring a "Sky-pods" structure with an elevated rope walkway and the Sutherland Shire's highest slide (4.5m), a dual flying-fox ride, and a dedicated junior play area. Skate Alley: There is a plaza-style skate precinct designed for younger or novice skaters, which adds to the appeal for older children. Picnic and BBQ Facilities: The reserve is well-equipped with picnic shelters, tables, bench seating, and plenty of open space for spreading out a rug. Facilities: Public toilets (including disabled facilities) and an amenities building are provided near the boat ramp. Boating: The Bonna Point boat ramp is dual-lane and features a holding pontoon, though users of deeper-draft vessels should check tide times due to shallow conditions extending offshore. Dogs: Dogs are permitted in the main reserve area but are strictly prohibited within 10 meters of the playground and play equipment, and are prohibited in the adjacent wildlife sanctuary areas. 🌿 Natural Environment and Activities The reserve borders significant natural and aquatic areas: Wildlife Sanctuary: Parts of the reserve, including the mangroves in Quibray Bay and the western sand spit, are wildlife and nature sanctuaries. Migratory shorebirds frequent the area, so visitors are urged to be mindful of sensitive ecosystems. Water Activities: Being on the coast, it's a great spot for enjoying the foreshore, including the adjacent Silver Beach which is popular for swimming and walking. Events: The reserve serves as a starting/finish point for local events, such as the Shire Run Carnival & Aquathlon, showcasing its value as a community hub. 👍 Overall Verdict Bonna Point Reserve is a must-visit for families in the Sutherland Shire and beyond. It receives high praise for its diverse and modern play equipment, excellent amenities, and beautiful coastal setting. Pros: Fantastic, large-scale playground with features for all ages. Plenty of open, grassy space for picnics and ball games. Clean, accessible public toilets and picnic shelters. Great location near Silver Beach and the boat ramp. Cons: Limited shade around the playground area, especially on hot days. Parking can be challenging during peak times or events. The area can be susceptible to windy conditions. It's a vibrant, well-maintained location that’s perfect for burning off kids' energy and enjoying a relaxing day by the water

Playground and restrooms are good. Not many tables. Parking can be a little tricky on a beautiful day even though there's lots of spaces. If you live in the area, definitely worth visiting

Located at 310-312 Prince Charles Parade, Kurnell, New South Wales, Australia 🇦🇺. A wonderful find after a great day spent at Kurnell. There’s a wonderful children’s playground complete with a great selection of children’s play equipment and also a great flying fox for adults to enjoy also. There’s many bench seats for people to rest and a grassy area if people want to bring a picnic lunch but there’s also picnic shelters. Dogs 🐕 are prohibited within 10 metres of the children’s playground and/or play equipment, even if they are on a leash. There’s very good toilet facilities complete with disabled toilets along with changing facilities and there’s plenty of parking also with disabled parking. This reserve is just across from Silver Beach in Kurnell and up from the Bonna Point boat ramp. This is a very family friendly spot and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Thumbs up from me. 👍👍👍

Amazing playground! The main climbing frame is probably best suited to kids aged 5+ but there are also some things for younger kids to play on e.g. swings, slides etc. along with lots of green space and a double flying fox. There’s even a mini skate park area there which is cool!
