Stanwell Park Beach
Stanwell Park Beach combines a wide, open ocean beach with a calmer lagoon area behind it, giving dogs two very different environments in one location. The main beach can have strong surf, while the lagoon offers a more sheltered option for dogs that prefer still water.
The beach itself is large, with plenty of space to move, and at certain times of day the surrounding cliffs provide some natural shade. There are also grassy areas and nearby cafés, making it easy to settle in after time on the sand.
Dog rules

Dogs must stay on a leash going to and from the beach, including all pathways. Source: Wollongong City Council – Dog Beaches and Parks (wollongong.nsw.gov.au/places/dog-beaches-and-parks)

What people say
Just about everything for everybody at a beach. Easily reached from the coastal road or by a difficult 20-minute walk from the train station; upon descending, the roads lead you to a glorious beach. There is plenty of space on the sandy beach and its two creeks and small 'lagoons', even on a busy day. The open sea has well-formed waves and the lagoons are fresh and much liked by younger children. Lifesavers hang out on the beach during the busy days. Facilities are adequate with picnic areas, cafe, surf club, playgrounds, toilets and changing sheds. It's a lovely beach for the day, a lot to explore..
Clean and beautiful beach and accompanying park. Good for a family outing/picnic. It has barbecue but we found it very dirty and saw people using their own. Ample parking space near the spot but it could get crowded during weekends. The beach is beautiful with rough waves. We saw many people surfing. The place is also famous for paragliding but we didn't get to see any. The Otford lookout is a 5 minute drive from here. Try to bundle up as many places as possible to make the most out of your visit. If you like temples, the Sri Venkateswar Temple is on your way to this place.
I just love ❤️ amazing beach and views
Gorgeous beach surrounded by hills and nature! Clean, peaceful, and not too crowded. The waves, breeze, and view make it a perfect spot to relax and unwind. Truly a hidden gem near Sydney!
Went on weekday when it was drizzling, almost empty roads and beautiful empty beach. It was very peaceful. The drive all the way to the beach with picturesque scenic snake shaped roads are very attractive. Piece of advice: Please don’t lose the focus on the road. Let your partner click the pictures while you focus on driving and safety of everyone.
