A very pleasant city beach that will suit beachgoers, surfers, and fans of other sports. The surroundings and facilities, like showers, are fairly well maintained. Also, if the waves feel a bit too much even with lifeguards on duty, right next to it there’s also the Canoe Pool and the Ocean Baths. There are really plenty of options here. The only major downside I noticed is the difficulty of finding a parking spot.
Could have spent a full day here! Must do: explore the tide pools at low tide and as they start to fill - I saw starfish and crabs in one close to the beach! Have littles or don’t want to play in waves: check out the ocean pool. For the true ocean experience the beach is right there! Also: beach volleyball courts, shaded picnic tables, and a quick serve cafe.
It's a beautiful beach with some amazing views of the ocean and the coastline. We visited this during our road trip from QLD to Melbourne. There are clean wash rooms available for public use and 30 minutes free parking is also available along the road side around here. There is also a kiosk near the steps to the beach area, where coffee, snacks, drinks etc are available when it's open.
Newcastle Beach is a premier urban destination situated just minutes from the CBD. Famed for its powerful surf breaks off Newcastle Point and golden sands, it features an accessible, highly developed foreshore with modern facilities. Located at the northern end, the heritage-listed Newcastle Ocean Baths provide a pristine, calm alternative to the open ocean. Recommended a scenic, 15-minute coastal walk stretching from Newcastle Beach to Nobbys Beach, passing historic landmarks and the Ocean Baths.
A beach that transcends above all other beaches in Australia. First of all it’s not crowded. It’s clean, the sand is fine 8/10 and golden in colour. Option of the beach with lifeguards, or the huge bogey hole or the massive ocean pool next to it all within a 2 minute walk. Also within a 2 minute walk are cafes, ice cream shop and Scottie’s - a gourmet fish and chip shop. This beach city is a 5-10minute walk to the city centre where there are plenty of restaurants, grocery shops and bars/pubs - and north of this beach are more beaches and Nobby’s lighthouse. It is pet and kids friendly. Locals are really friendly as well. A beautiful hidden part of Australia, highly recommend
