Visited yesterday for the first time just as they opened their doors and had a good experience. Soufflé pancakes were some of the best i’ve had, and coffee was good. No fuss service, with an attentive team that knows what they are doing and in my opinion, has a passion for it. Will come again for sure
As someone who works in hospitality for almost 10 years, just want to give a genuine review to this shop as it was below my expectations. We got here without knowing that reservation was needed to get seated and the main guy (probably the owner or manager) seated us kindly. We were seated by the window on the ground floor. We waited for a bit but noone came to tell us its table service, so I went up checking on the baristas if its table service as noone came back to check with us for drinks. I asked the baristas if its table service and they werent even friendly when they answered to me its table service. Head back to the table, waited for the staff to come and take our order. It took more than 15 minutes for our coffee to came out and more than 20 minutes for the pastries and more than 20 minutes for a smoothie. Food and drinks service was very slow, coffee was average and no presentation on the drinks. I was going to try the pastries and wait for a bit before order some lunch for us but we were disappointed. They have good selection of pastries and food, nice seatings and location, friendly waitstaff, but I’m not sure if i’d come back to here. Maybe it was us and our expectations 😅
I recently visited The Wedge in Glebe for breakfast and ordered the Lisbon Breakfast. The café has a pleasant atmosphere. I sat by the window, which was nice for the natural light, although the view wasn’t ideal because a couple of cars were parked right outside. That part isn’t within the café’s control, but it’s worth keeping in mind if you expect a scenic outlook. The service was great. My order came out quickly, and the staff were warm, attentive, and checked in regularly without being overbearing. The food was a new experience for me. It included a poached egg served on a special fish, topped with hollandaise sauce on a hash brown. I enjoy trying new dishes, and this one was genuinely nice. I do think the plate would benefit from some vegetables or a small salad on the side, just to balance the meal a bit more. I also had a matcha latte. I usually only drink matcha at Korean or Japanese cafés, but I decided to try it here. It was surprisingly good and not too sweet, which I prefer. Overall, it was a very good experience, and I would recommend The Wedge in Glebe for breakfast. In terms of price, it was reasonable for the area, but considering the portion size, it didn’t feel fully worth it.
If you don’t mind music and background noise, this is a great place to work/study. Free wifi, excellent coffee, delicious food that changes with the seasons, and consistently lovely staff. For us middle aged folks, I like to sit on the high stools that have low back support. There’s also traditional tables and chairs. Mostly, I enjoy the vibe and looking out into the street. It feels light and airy, perfect for hot summer days or rainy miserable days.
First time here, great experience. Second time here, won’t be coming back. We ordered the soufflé pancakes and found a strange tasting cheese/cream at the bottom of the pancakes. We asked what it was and the staff said it was ricotta cheese. I’ve had ricotta pancakes in the past and never separated out like that. They put the ricotta at the bottom of the pancake and tasted off. We asked if there was whipped cream we can have to substitute it instead and they had none. They suggested if we would like to have lemon curd instead. This tasted much better. HOWEVER, when I went to get the bill they had added the lemon curd to the bill for $4. It’s not about the $ but more like there was no transparency there and I feel they should have told us that there was a charge for it before they discreetly added it to the total bill. Very disappointed.
