Sunset Beach is a quiet beach at Soldiers Point with a picnic area, toilets and good sunset views. Dogs are welcome on-leash, in line with Port Stephens' general on-leash rule for council reserves, with up to four dogs per person. Park on Sunset Boulevard and walk down to the sand for an easy stroll by the water. A peaceful on-leash spot for an evening walk.
All Council reserves that are not off-lead or prohibited are dog on-lead areas. Dogs must be under the effective control of a competent person by means of an adequate chain or leash at all times. You are not permitted to walk more than 4 dogs at any one time. Dog owners must remove all dog faeces — fines of $275 apply. Very good beach to enjoy sunset. There is a picnic area. Public toilets are also available. Park in Sunset Boulevard and walk to the beach. Dog friendly area. Plenty of drift wood available.
It is nice that sunrise and sunset beach are located quite close together. The cloud was blocking th sunset. There is a jetty, with no rail so beware of falling. Overall a nice place to watch sunset. It was easy to get parking as well. Public toilet is available.
Beautiful view at sunset. Can’t swim or play in the beach though. It was very dirty
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
