Laid back pub with a great open plan balcony dining/drinking space ... Nicely positioned stopover riding back to Paddington from North Sydney on a hot day

Absolutely fantastic! The meals were delicious and fresh, staff were friendly, bar was spacious and had a great atmosphere. The massive windows and open doors on to the terrace made it so bright and inviting.

The Ooollld Commodore… It is impossible to say this without drawing out the “old”. The name drips off the tongue like the opening line of a Herman Melville tale. And in some ways, it kinda was. I had never been here before, never heard of it. But as I passed by, its foreboding presence, towering over me at street side was diminished by the siren song of its warm glow, beckoning. It’s lighting a soft, orangey, splendor. Harking back to a time when people wrote by candle light and spent the evening in the company of friends. It is rare that I will eat at a place without at least looking over the food menu before arriving, but the Commodore had me feeling adventurous. The night was beautiful. The warmth of the day was quieted by a comforting breeze. And, as luck would have it, a single, spare, table on the balcony, was waiting, for me. It’s easy to romanticize a time in the past. To think of all that was great with blinders on to ignore all that was bad. But luckily for me, the food was modern, and thus - good. A clean, fresh, menu with lots of great beers on tap. Friendly staff and a nice environment. If I lived here, this would be my local. But, probably, only on weekdays. Because I imagine a place this good, is heaving as the work week winds down. And if I lived here, I’d adopt the stereotype of being annoyed at all the people coming from everywhere else, to enjoy this thing, in my area, making it impossible for me to enjoy.

Modern, classy fit out, plenty of places to sit, dine, drink. The menu is modern and reasonably priced. The chicken wing's were amazing and schnitty is a great benchmark! It's only opened so my only feedback would be to keep the staff trying up.. and get some energetic staff in to suit the upgrade.

This is the first place we went after arriving and checking into our hotel. We had a great time, it was super busy for a sunday afternoon but yet it didnt feel packed. It was nice. Our bartender was awesome, wish I could remember his name to give him a shout out. Food arrived quick and it was very flavorful. We cant wait to come back again!
