Let me preface this with the bar staff being an amazing bunch. But the kitchen? Oh, the kitchen... Perhaps these are legacy issues as they've recently 'removed' the old chef, but the specials come with a lot of red tape. Firstly, the Monday 2-for-1 deal excludes salads and starters. Not even the staff know what the rationale is - we've asked. Then, if you want veg with your steak you're given 4-5 pieces of broccoli – huh?! We've ordered the steak a couple of times, and for the most part this has been underwhelming because I can't understand how professional chefs can overcook steak. We're locals, and occasionally visit in the mornings for a feed and a coffee, and there's been a handful of times where meals were missing crucial ingredients to them! If you value your money, avoid the kitchen here. Everything else about the pub is incredible, though.
I must say, the most organised pub we’ve set up photo booth so far. We felt like we are part of the crew and with assistance from start to finish. Food was fantastic, too!!!
I never usually leave reviews, but after tonight I felt like I had to. I was sitting down enjoying my meal for the Monday "two for one" special when all of a sudden one of the chefs started yelling and threatening the waiter. It was loud, aggressive, and honestly uncomfortable to witness. What surprised me most was that the waiter just went straight back to serving customers after the altercation with a smile like nothing even happened. The food, service and the deal were amazing, but that behaviour completely ruined the vibe. This isn’t written out of malice, it’s written because no customer or staff member should ever be threatened like that at their place of work.
despite living within 400 metres of this pub and frequenting it extremely regularly 18/19 years ago. I have to admit have neglected the old girl since. well that changed over the last weekend. walked in and while there has been an awesome glow up. geez it felt like home. there to celebrate a family birthday. we had an outside table in the outstanding court yard. (I remember when it was a backyard). anyway. I will not leave it too long between drinks and food ever again. hats off Salisbury. up there with the great Inner West pubs. thanks. (PS. the schnitty was all time. and there were zero complaints about any of the other dishes ordered).
Lovely looking pub with nice atmosphere. Food was v disappointing. Ordered brisket bao buns - 80% fat on the meat and pretty much inedible. Home made flatbread was tasteless… may have been gluten free, which I guess would be fine if that’s what I ordered but it wasn’t.
