Rusty Penny was recommended to us by the hotel staff where we were staying, and I’m glad we took their advice! Went and had lunch at Rusty Penny and we were very pleasantly surprised with what we found. From the entrance of the roller door it’s very unassuming but step inside and you find a very cool brewery vibe, with great artworks on the walls, cool music and to see the meat smoker in action and easily visible to see is cool. Lots of tables to sit at. Menu is easy, we had the platter for 2 and the amount of food was extremely generous, we had some left to take away! The flavours were amazing and so delicious! Tried the home brew of the Lemon drink it was so nice! Chris one of the staff / owners is so happy and nothing seemed to be a trouble he introduced himself and was keen to hear where we were from. I would absolutely visit again and when we are back in western sydney again will return!
We held our work Christmas party here and what a venue! Hot day and was cool inside with a nice breeze. The big air con units were a hit with the girls trying to cool down. Beer and drinks were icy cold and a great variety. Good was off the charts, meats, sides and deserts all fantastic. We’ll be back!
We visited with a group of friends for a Christmas get together and were very impressed. Great food, great choice of brewed drinks and cool atmosphere. The meats were honestly amazing as were the sides! Will definitely be bringing the family back. The only slight negative was that it was very loud, but it is a warehouse type setting, so to be expected. Thank you Rusty Penny!
Kind of unfair to have a pub that crafts its own beer and serve great food at the same time. Like hungry little carnivores we ordered a platter for two, that came with four tubs of sauces (two bbq sauces, a chipotle aioli sauce and a hot sauce that’s actually…hot? Which is a rarity nowadays). We loved the sausages, with different spices and with cheese inside. The brisket and the brisket beans were just as sinful, enough for you to go to confession twice in a day. Chicken was moist and we appreciated the smokiness and its charcoal taste. Instead of chips they used crisps, which goes well with their aioli. Ordered their IPA which was really crisp and refreshing that it pairs well with such heavy food. Since I like coffee I tried their stout; while not as malty and full-bodied as a Guinness, I appreciated their own take on it and enjoyed a full mug of it. I would’ve ordered more but my wallet was already complaining meaning it was time to head home. What was good was that, I didn’t get a headache drinking their crafted beer, which is a new thing for me because other beers from breweries I’ve been to didn’t have that effect, which means that Rusty Penny most probably pays attention to detail, on how they make their ales and brews. Overall, we’ll definitely come back. It was really rare for us to find a brewery that has great food served alongside great beer.
I drove for 45 minutes to get here. Holy cheese and crackers it was worth it. This is easily the best BBQ brisket anywhere in Sydney. The craft beer is a bonus and I’m more than happy to support the local brew. The vibe is nice and relaxed, the staff are super friendly, and it’s easily accessible for anyone in a wheelchair. I must’ve consumed a week’s worth of meat in one sitting. I bought an extra two BBQ Boards to take home and it was still fantastic after heating in the oven (but fresh is still best). Seriously, Rusty Penny Brewing is one of the unlikeliest jewels of Western Sydney you’ll encounter. All the people who refuse to venture west of Marrickville have no idea what they’re missing.
