Part of the great river walk Workin’ down in Jamisontown, Penrith, I find myself headin’ to the Weir Reserve along the Great River Walk a couple of times a week—fair dinkum, it’s my go-to spot to clear the head. There’s just somethin’ magic about strollin’ by the river, takin’ in those ripper views. Before I kick off my walk, I usually grab a few snacks and an energy drink from a local servo. Then it’s all about hittin’ the path, takin’ it easy, and enjoyin’ the vibes. The locals are tops—friendly as anything! You’ll get a few nods, smiles, and the odd “G’day” as you go. Makes you feel right at home. There are heaps of benches to park yourself on, perfect for soakin’ up the scenery or catchin’ up with family. And the paths? Smooth as, and well-looked after. Whether you’re out for a bit of a sweat, a snap of the river, or just a cruisy arvo, this place ticks all the boxes. If you’re swingin’ by Penrith—or even if you’re a local who hasn’t had a crack yet—get down here. The Great River Walk, especially Weir Reserve, is bloody unreal!
