What people say
Beautiful park on the headland. Loved seeing the old military bunkers and the views of the harbour are fantastic. Well maintained, plenty of parking, and very interesting history. Worth a stop if you are in Port Kembla. Photo Tip: A photo of the concrete gun emplacements with the ocean in the background is the signature shot here—it captures the mix of history and nature perfectly.
A beautiful and relaxing spot with breathtaking sea views and a peaceful atmosphere. The well-maintained lawns are perfect for a picnic or just soaking in the scenery, and the art installations add a nice touch. There’s even a small sandy beach nearby, easy street parking, and a restaurant to enjoy. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area
Overlooks the sea with a few art installations. Well maintained lawn that's great for picnics but it can get quite windy up there. There's a restaurant here too, along with the water police. Easy street parking and then walk in.
I visited here recently with my father-in-law, hoping to see the Breakwater Battery Museum (which may or may not be permanently closed) and the breakwater itself, which was, unfortunately, closed to the public that day due to rough seas caused by the "bomb cyclone" weather event which much of the NSW coast had been subjected to a few days previously. There are still things to see here, including two art installations (IMO, these could have benefited from signs to explain their meaning / significance), a monument to the sinking of the MV Gabriella ship in 1986, a WW1 artillery piece, two emplacements where coastal artillery was once mounted, a view of the breakwater, and perhaps most surprisingly, a pretty decent Italian breakfast and lunch restaurant. Of course, there is also the natural beauty of the ocean and rocky coastline.
Had quite a great experience. Too windy so make sure you have your puff jacket on. Too many seagulls. Overall visit this if you are looking for some nice place without too many expectations. Find the photos attached for more information.
