Spice Monkey Forster

I have been coming here for years and years and always loved the food but tonight’s experience was super disappointing. We walked out of there having spent $220, wishing we had not wasted our money. I don’t know if the chef has changed or what has happened but there was no love in the meals we had tonight. Sushi was super average. Pork noodles were not cooked property and the flavor wasn’t right. We used to come here and the nori sushi at $26 would fill one person up - now it’s basic and it’s mainly rice. A few of us left hungry. Service is fine. The restaurant itself needs a little love. It’s dated and stuffy. Toilets were not clean either. It’s a pity as the location is so lovely.

Worth making a booking to ensure you don't miss out on this highlight for Forster dining! The wait staff were friendly and knew the menu well (always helpful if we're not sure what to order!). The barramundi was a highlight, but everything was super tasty, good portions and made for a lovely night out with friends. The best seats are by the front window inside.

Food was amazing, service was also great. We had a table of 6 adults and ordered a heap to share. The variety was great, couldn’t fault any dishes. Also loved the kids bento box option, I ordered this for my daughters soon as we arrived and it came out very fast was also delicious. Our waiter was lovely and friendly.

All the food that we ordered were totally tasteless as if they didn’t put any salt at all. We ordered fried rice (tasteless), pumpin curry super spice but has no salt, fried hor fun (no salt and tasless) I had to ask for lots of chilli oil to make the fried noodle has a taste. We wasted $150 for 4 dishes such a ripped off. Not to mention the waiter made a mistake with our order. And the restaurant has no air conditioning at all and it’s boiling hot. I will never come and wont recommend this place to anyone.

I stopped by Spice Monkey Nelson Bay for dinner and had a decent experience. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was vibrant and lively. However, the food was average but not particularly memorable.
