River Road Reserve is a highly rated dog-friendly park in Emu Plains where dogs are welcome on lead. The Log Cabin is also around 450 metres away if you're after a post-walk drink.
Dogs are permitted on-leash under the NSW Companion Animals Act. Dogs must be under effective control at all times. This venue is not listed on the Penrith City Council off-leash dog areas page; off-leash use is not authorised here.
There’s something undeniably enjoyable about taking a walk near the river. The peaceful atmosphere, combined with the refreshing breeze, makes it an inviting experience. Plus, there are plenty of coffee shops just across the road, perfect for grabbing a warm cup to sip while you stroll. I really appreciate the local council for their efforts in maintaining the area; it’s always kept in good condition, making our outings even more pleasant.
I wish they had a better water park and would love to see a large bmx/skating area.
Just completed the Penrith Bridge Loop which takes in both sides of the river. The reserve is great but could do with another bathroom facility on the Emu Plains side of the walk and a few of the picnic benches need a good mow. Cafes located at either end of the loop for coffee, drinks etc.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
