We had a lovely meal on a busy Friday night. We had the Angus steaks which were lovely but the surprise for the night was the salad. The salad was coated in deliciousness that I could have had as the whole meal, yum!! The steak was cooked to perfection, the fries were dry and delicious as well. No disappointment here at all. The service was a laid back friendly vibe with full explanations, loved it. Clear precise communication in a busy, not too loud pub.
Other than the small inconvenience of children walking through the bar area to and from the bistro, this pub is reliable for the quality food and pub atmosphere. Pretty much every menu item is worth trying here ("propper fish & chips" and the 250g black angus are standouts), and the service is better than I've experienced in some fine-dining restaurants.
Great experience, good ol' 90s playing in the background definitely gives that good ol' Aussie feel. Friendly hospitality and service with great portions and taste. Overall, great value and vibe!
There's a few good pub options in and around Bong Bong Street. We decided to have dinner here which we didn't regret. We had the Jacks Creek Brisket Pie which was by far the best pub pie I have ever had, I could have had another two easy. We also had the Braised WA Octopus which was so tender, cooked to perfection, and a side of beets. I was won't begin to describe them because I'm not a Masterchef, so you'll have to get yourself here to try them for yourself.
Do yourself a favour & give it a BIG MISS!! Young dark haired bar person, (think called Maisie) took our order. When ordering I stressed entree and main and gap between. We soon received two entrees and then less than 2 minutes later we received our mains. I said this cannot be right you just served us the entrees. She stated very rudely that this is the time gap and placed the meals at our table. She kept stressing to us that their kitchen policy is to serve mains right after the entrees are served. We were in shock as we were expecting more from this venue and were keen to have a leisurely lunch and enjoy the venue. Not the case. The meal was less than ordinary and service poor. We won’t be back to this venue and will certainly tell other tourists of our let down.
