Henson Park is a top-rated dog-friendly park in Marrickville where dogs can enjoy off-leash play. Henson Park Hotel is around 300 metres away for an easy post-walk drink. Some conditions apply, so it's worth checking the rules before you visit.
A designated area on the eastern side of Henson Park (outside the sporting ground on the hill) is off-leash. During ticketed sporting events dogs must be on-leash (Newtown Jets, AFL/NSW games) or are not permitted (AFLW games). Follow on-site signage.
It was great went AFLWL Place has no shade so that was a problem for me being a red head also limited seat so take a rug.
I came here to watch the AFLW, I was impressed by the ample places to sit and watch my team play. Lots of open air seating as well as an old fashioned hill, very friendly staff making sure that everyone was able to enjoy themselves.
Great park in a centralised location to watch the AFLW! The grounds remind me of my childhood watching the local teams from the hill. Very family friendly and they permit your picnic blankets, chairs and food.
Family Fun day Get your toes on the ground and meet the players . No other ground in NSW can you do this. Old school footy. 🏉 You see the Sharks feeder club and locals .
Henson Park, home of the Rugby League Newtown Jets… “Go the Jets!!” Is a phrase you will often hear on game day. A beautiful sports ground in the middle of a renovation (2025) brings people, families, friends and pets out for a fun day. In the Sydney suburb of Marrickville near bus routes, soak in the atmosphere of game days.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
