I grew up at First Avenue Belfield and Rudd Park was the venue for activities such as sporting events and walks. I trained there as a sprinter with other State and national champions of the day. Nowadays Rudd Park has an updated soccer field and attracts tournaments at regular basis. It is the home of Belmore Eagles Soccer Club. There are cricket pitches and cricket training nets also. An area allocated for picnic events too. You can BBQ at Rudd Park, but check with Canterbury-Bankstown Council and the NSW Rural Fire Service for current fire bans and conditions before you go. Portable gas BBQs are permitted, but open flame or charcoal BBQs are not. You must also place drip mats under your BBQ to protect the grass Rudd Park was farm land in the old times and the surrounding roads were gravel and not sealed roads. Next to the park was a Church with horse ranch behind it. Original fibro cottages still exist and mine is one of them!
I grew up playing all sports here during the mis 80s. I played tennis here the other day. The very same court I played my first ever match. But now with astro turf.
Field is great, amenities are from the 1900’s. Surprised the hot water still works. Amenities need a big upgrade, similar to Strathfield park
It is a good soccer field. it has mini field and standard field. We always go there for training. But the canteen side is too old and not renovated, and seats have no cover.
