I ordered the roast chicken bahn mi and it was soo goood I love that I can choose how toasty it is. Everything here is halal! I will come back to try other bahn mi and maybe try the pho as well.

Life’s Not Fair – But This Is! 🥐 Step inside Life’s Not Fair, and you’ll immediately know you’re in for something special. This isn’t just any bakery—it’s a haven for fresh, vibrant flavors that cater to halal lovers and foodies alike. The first thing that catches your eye is their selection of freshly baked breads and baguettes, each with a perfect crust and soft, airy inside. The bánh mì is a standout. Imagine a light, crispy baguette stuffed with perfectly seasoned halal meat, crunchy pickled carrots and daikon, fresh cucumber, fragrant cilantro, and just the right kick of chilies and sauces. It’s a flavor-packed experience that hits all the right notes: crunchy, savory, fresh, and aromatic all at once. You can choose between a traditional crunchy baguette or a soft 12-inch baguette, and fillings like lemongrass chicken make each bite unforgettable. Beyond the bánh mì, the café also serves rice paper prawn rolls, delicate and refreshing, along with milk cake that’s soft, sweet, and utterly indulgent. Every item feels handcrafted, fresh, and full of love, making it clear that this place takes its craft seriously. Whether you’re popping in for a quick lunch, picking up a takeaway baguette, or indulging in a sweet treat with a coffee, Life’s Not Fair delivers a combination of flavors, textures, and freshness that’s hard to beat. Very friendly service, the lady who served us was very helpful. The Gözleme we ordered that was very tasty, not oily very fresh, the banh mi we tried was okay. crispy French baguette but we expected little more topping, that would taste even more better.

I came here after seeing the Instagram page and all the strong Google reviews, so my expectations were pretty high. I’ve grown up eating banh mi from places in Mascot, the Eastern Suburbs and Bankstown, and usually stick to salad rolls because not everywhere is halal. I was excited to try this place, especially with how much people have hyped it up. Unfortunately my experience didn’t match the reviews. We ordered three rolls and a sugarcane juice. The sugarcane juice was great. The rolls were the let-down. I ordered two soft salad rolls with extra mayonnaise and extra soy sauce. One came soft, one came crunchy, and the soft roll had the end cut off which felt strange. The salad also included beetroot, which I’ve never had in a traditional banh mi. There was no sign of any extra sauce, and their “soy sauce” is actually more like a thick sweet dressing, which is very different from the usual banh mi seasoning sauce. I also ordered a crunchy roll with roast chicken and extra sauce. The chicken was extremely peppery so it overpowered everything, and again the roll was very dry. When I opened it to show the staff, there was only a thin smear that looked more like butter than mayonnaise. They did offer to add more sauce, but the bottle was basically empty and the sauce itself wasn’t the style you normally expect on a banh mi. What made it more disappointing was the reaction when I mentioned the dryness. The woman behind the counter looked surprised and a bit annoyed, like the feedback itself was an inconvenience. I’m not someone who complains about food, I usually just don’t go back, but the roll was genuinely too dry to eat without extra sauce. Even after adding more, it still wasn’t enjoyable. My husband didn’t finish his second roll either. For the price, I expected better quality and better customer service. There are plenty of other places in Bankstown that taste far more authentic and are much more open to feedback. Based on this experience, I wouldn’t return.

A must-try Vietnamese food place— honestly better than what I’ve had in Vietnam! The taste, quality, and authenticity are amazing, and they also offer everything halal , which is a huge plus. Excellent service and great atmosphere. Highly recommended 🤩
