Avondale Hotel Burwood

Very disappointed The ac was not working and it was extremely hot inside. There was also a hole in the ceiling causing water to leak and flood the floor. Poor maintenance and very uncomfortable experience.

Worst steak ever. The steak was burnt and bitter on the outside, but still raw on the inside. Very disappointing

I am writing this review to formally raise serious concerns regarding the conduct and professionalism of some staff members at Avondale Hotel, Burwood NSW. My experience was extremely disappointing. Several staff members were unprofessional, rude, and showed a clear lack of basic customer service skills. Communication was very poor, with some staff struggling to understand or communicate in English, which made even simple interactions difficult. More concerning was the clear sense of discrimination and unfair treatment. It appeared that staff were selectively attentive only to certain customers, while others were ignored or treated poorly. This behaviour felt biased and deeply disrespectful. All customers deserve equal treatment, regardless of background. Additionally, the focus of some staff seemed to be more on extracting money rather than providing genuine service or hospitality. This created an unwelcoming and uncomfortable environment. I strongly urge the owner or management to seriously review staff behaviour, provide proper customer service training, and address these issues immediately. Racism, discrimination, and unprofessional conduct have no place in any hospitality venue. I specifically came to the restaurant at this time for the drink, but when I tried to get it the person at the counter refused to print my receipt and said they don't do it on public holidays. I tried to tell her that the sign should say this but she just looked at me and walked off. I considered asking for a refund and eating somewhere else due to the service but decided it wasn't worth arguing on new years day.

The security guard asked if i had a beer, yes 1, but he blocked me. Im never going to this terrible pub.
