First time trying Korean sashimi, and what a present surprise. Basically its like having korean BBQ, but instead of meat, you have it with fish. Side dishes.....lettuce....seaseme leaves... Seaseme leaves and sashimi are very nice combo, unexpectedly. Very pleasant experience
Mansun Pocha — Eastwood Review on 2/1/2025 Mansun Pocha — Eastwood Review on 2/1/2026 A “pocha” in name, a full restaurant in spirit If you want to know where Sydney’s ethnic Koreans actually congregate, eat, drink, and shout over each other, head straight to Mansun Pocha. This place is not just busy — it’s bursting at the seams, a tidal wave of chatter and clatter that makes it noisier than a Beatles concert. And honestly, that is part of its charm. Despite the name, this is a restaurant by Korean standards, not a street‑side tent bar. The lighting is bright, the plating is polished, and the dishes arrive looking like they are auditioning for a K‑drama food montage. The Food Mansun Pocha excels in fresh seafood. Everything looks vibrant and inviting, though the cooking leans toward simplicity rather than cooking technique. Think: high‑quality ingredients doing most of the heavy lifting. It was not the Japanese Misso soup. Just plain seaweed. No tiny pieces tofu. Taste? Not spectacular. Banchan They are the small side dishes. Adequate variety — not an endless parade. Unfortunately, they replenished only upon request — not quite Korean hospitality. The highlight is the fresh prawn banchan, sweet and crisp with that unmistakable ocean snap. Seafood Pancake (Haemul Pajeon) A generous, golden‑edged pancake with a soft, custardy centre. Packed with squid, prawn, and spring onion. The edges have that satisfying crispness, while the interior stays tender. It’s the kind of dish that disappears faster than you expect. Sashimi The salmon is fresh but the slices / diced pieces are on the small side. The bottom of the serving plate was filled with finely shredded radish to visually improve the volume. Other ingredients including a couple of oysters, prawns and squid. Presentation is elegant, though, and the quality is undeniable. Grilled Mackerel This one did not win me over. The fish arrived dry and bony, lacking the rich, oily depth that good mackerel should deliver. A miss in an otherwise solid lineup. Grilled Squid A pleasant surprise. Tender, lightly charred, and not remotely chewy, it strikes that perfect balance between smokiness and sweetness. A simple dish done well. Bossaam (Wrapped Pork) The star of the night. The pork is succulent, juicy, and not the heart health conscious, ready to be wrapped in perilla leaves with garlic, ssamjang, and kimchi. I prefer to eat the fatty pork pieces with any wrapping". Atmosphere If you are after a quiet, contemplative meal, this is not your sanctuary. But if you want the full Korean communal dining experience — loud, lively, and unapologetically energetic — Mansun Pocha delivers in spades. Verdict Mansun Pocha is the go‑to spot for Koreans craving a taste of home. Don’t come expecting culinary wizardry. It is chaotic, loud, and unmistakably Korean — and that is exactly why it works.
The best Korean sashimi & seafood restaurant I've visit in not just Sydney, but Australia. Every single seafood on the platter was fresh and tasty. If you are wondering what Korean sashimi looks like, then look no further! Grilled fish and other seafood companions were also fabulous. Don't forget to try spicy fish soup after you finish the platter! Staff were friendly and quick to respond. Excellent customer service.
Assorted sashimi platter (regular) is amazing for 2 but best paired with rice to keep you satiated. Highly recommend the raw marinated beef dish if you like soft and chewy textures. All raw dishes are very fresh and best paired with plain soju. There are often waiting lists even on weekdays and it’s quite packed Friday-Sunday night. Been there multiple times and it’s always a crowd favourite for those that like Korean style sashimi.
Freshest seafood set ! Sashimi, seafood pancake & fish soup in Korean style are really amazing just like the Gangnam, Seoul standard. This was just opened mid year & always full house. The secret seems fresh seafoods & top chefs ex Sushi restaurants. The services are fast & attentive in a new clean restaurant. Booking is essential best value indeed.
