Macelleria Newtown is a dog-friendly pub with outdoor space. Enmore Fenced Dog Park is also around 450 metres away for an easy walk before or after your visit.
No dogs inside, but dogs are welcome at the outdoor streetside tables, with shade and shelter.
Macelleria was a very good time. The steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavour, the sauces were rich without being heavy, and every side we tried just made the meal better. The bread was warm and crisp, the prawns were super indulgent, and the mash was exactly what you want it to be — smooth, buttery, no notes. Everything felt generous and well done without trying too hard. Proper comfort food with quality ingredients, and you can really taste it. Left absolutely stuffed and already thinking about what we’d order next time. Would happily come back again.
This is a good place to go if you're just craving a steak on a random night, especially since this is right in Newtown. My friend and I both ordered the 'Rump Steak Meal'. Nothing too special, just a yummy, standard steak with veggies and mash/fries on the side. There are lots of cuts you can choose from, so I'll definitely try a different steak next time. Atmosphere is also really chill, lots of families and people of all ages just eating.
Let’s begin, We tried Macelleria in Newtown for the first time and overall it was a great experience. We ordered a range of steaks — Angus Scotch Fillet, Angus Rump, and the Angus Rib-eye Cutlet on the bone — all full of flavour and really enjoyable. The only small disappointment was that 1 of the steaks came out medium-to-well instead of medium, it was the rib-eye, but even then it still tasted great and everyone at the table was happy with their meals. We added creamy mushroom and creamy green pepper sauces, mash with gravy, kale/quinoa/beetroot salad, rocket/pear/walnut salad, sweet potato wedges and grilled haloumi. Every side was delicious and there were barely any leftovers — just a little mash and salad. That says it all. The service was friendly with no faults, and the restaurant was very clean. The only things I wasn’t a fan of were the seating being a little crowded where we were sitting, and the lighting being a bit on the darker side. The final bill was $235.73, which is on the pricey side. For me, it’s not the kind of place I’d go to all the time — more like a once-a-month treat. Still, it’s worth going at least once to try the experience and the quality of the food. Funny note: The food left us full, happy and satisfied… the bill left my wallet needing emotional support. 🤣😆🤣
Simple the best steak I’ve had to date. The 350g sirloin was cooked to perfection. Despite being a nice thick cut, it was absolutely perfect. The char on the outside. Soft, juicy in the inside. Each pice from start to finish melted in our mouths. Simply epic. Fries were seasoned perfectly and crispy, not soggy. Vegetables are difficult to cook and were steamed just right with lemon. First time at Macelleria. We’ll be regulars. 11/10. Wow.
Thanks for ur service and super yummy food, 100 out of 10 recommend sweet potato we ordered twice!!! All the steaks we had were fabulous and absolutely price worthy. Personally I never eat any meat with a bit raw, but I really love the taste of “medium-rare”. So much joyful with my friends there, made my unforgettable birthday! Wanna visit countless times:)))
