Jack Haynes Reserve is a park in Newtown with plenty of shade. Dog access isn't confirmed, but it may be worth checking.

Dog rules

Inner West Council's "Dog exercise areas" page states: "By law, dogs must be on a leash in public places unless the area is a designated off-leash area." Inner West Council publishes a list of gazetted off-leash areas; this venue is not on that list, so the council's general on-leash rule applies under the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998. A small park, located on the former site of a mechanic's workshop. Half of the park is covered with grass that is too long, the other half features grass that no longer exists. Included here are two park benches, a rubbish bin, and a water bubbler that looks like something left over from the Manhattan Project. A newish sign has some text that displays some interesting history about Newtown, the park, and the man after who it is named. Large trees provide some shade, making this park a nice place to rest on a hot day.

Fine little park, but it's 2 small to call it much of a destination.

Pristine green grass in a quiet corner of Newtown, this small avenue of trees have one of the best opportunities to grace one's self with the reserve's various Jacaranda trees. Solace and beauty immersed into this little pocket.
