The Newtown Hotel is one of the Inner West’s most reliable all-round venues if you’re heading out with your dog.
It is a large, multi-level pub with plenty of space to move between, including seating and bars upstairs and downstairs. The upstairs balcony is a standout, overlooking the street and catching good natural light, with shade options available when needed. Downstairs, there is also a beer garden out the back, giving you flexibility depending on the time of day or how busy it is.
Because of the size and layout, it works well for dogs that need a bit of room to stretch out, as well as for longer catch ups where you might move between areas.
Dogs are welcome indoors and outdoors across the venue.
A genuinely great dog-friendly pub with a relaxed, welcoming feel throughout. Dogs are welcome across the whole venue, with a spacious beer garden downstairs and plenty of room inside and out to settle in comfortably.
The Newtown Hotel is a modern, large pub in the Inner West with great food and a comfortable vibe. Plenty of seating, and dog-friendly both inside and out, with a downstairs beer garden and an upstairs balcony. Friendly staff and lots of drag shows on the weekends add to the atmosphere.
The Newtown Hotel is such a classic. Great iconic pub right in the heart of Newtown. The terrace overlooking King Street is the perfect spot for a drink and some people watching 📺 We checked out the comedy and it was genuinely hilarious. Loved the small, intimate room upstairs, good little setup. Drinks were solid, service was friendly, and the crowd was fun. Cool spot, great vibes, and an easy go-to in Newtown 😎
The food here is fantastic!! Steak was very well cooked. Truffle Mushroom aronchini yumm perfectly balanced. The chicken shwarma takes you to middle east fine treat. And the pizza is $16 mon - thur! Music is always on point for those with tastes 🙂↔️ eclectic! It's our new favourite. It's how a pub should be in Australia 🧚
Absolutely obsessed with the atmosphere at The Newtown Hotel every second Sunday from 6–8pm. Dakota Fann’ee and Natalie Carboni absolutely key’d up the room with phenomenal live vocals, charisma, and nonstop energy. Every performance felt polished, fun, and full of heart the kind of night that reminds you why live entertainment matters. If you’re after powerhouse singing, campy fun, and a genuinely electric vibe, this is the place to be.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
