Mackey Park is a riverside Marrickville park with a peaceful walking and bike path along the Cooks River. Dogs are welcome on-leash, with BBQ facilities, toilets, bins and drinking water available for a longer visit. It is best for a relaxed scenic walk rather than off-leash running, especially because there is no perimeter fencing.
Inner West Council's "Dog exercise areas" page states: "By law, dogs must be on a leash in public places unless the area is a designated off-leash area." This venue is not listed as a designated off-leash area on Inner West Council's Dog exercise areas page.
Sprawling park and doggie friendly. However, there are no fences so if you are not super confident with your recall, then too risky. Also, the walk along the river, and this is true no matter where you join it, can likewise ne a bit stressful if you have a puppy or, if like me and my little Freddie, you take every available opportunity to take the leash off. There is a big toilet block- but its locked...
Great walking/bike track . I often use to walk my dog. Peaceful and serene. Children's play area ,BBQ facilities, public toilets including drinking water taps for bottle refills. Highly recommended
Turf refurbishment has improved this park. New amenities building and playground will improve it further.
Love the lights at the park.
Nice park, great fields for soccer, and well maintained. The only problem is that there aren't many seating options, and the grass is pretty wet in winter, especially when it is early and dewy. Besides that, it is a pretty park and lovely for watching soccer!
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
