A beautiful walk that connects busy inner west suburbs without you ever having to know about it! Leafy, lush and wonderful meandering path that's great for dogs, kids and exercisers alike! Best thing about it is the suburbs it goes through offer short pit stops if you get hungry along the way. A wonderful thing to have in the Inner West.
Dogs are allowed of leash but fencing is not 100% secure and there's no fresh water supply so not an official dog park. this park has a slightly neglected and forgotten feel, but is still very popular with professional dog walkers and multiple groups usually visit during week days.
The reserve is quite small but it connects to the Greenway walking path through to Leichhardt, Haberfield and the Bay Run. Though small the park is fascinating with the train tracks overhead, new and old , and a beautiful stone water pipe viaduct. There is a dog run area, although there were a couple of psycho people with enormous dogs telling people to stay away on one of our family walks past. Though usually locked there is some great graffiti under the rsilway bridges.
This place has a charm of antiquity and abandonment with the old aqueduct, railroad bridges overhead and the graffiti covered canal. The flora provides plenty of shade while the bridges and locked gates cast magnificent shadows. This would be the perfect spot to film a dystopian future scene in a movie. The lack of water to fill the channel is a bit sad, but I’m guessing it’d be lovely after a nice downpour. Unfortunately I didn’t see the turkey that was mentioned on the sign at the entrance. My overall take away feeling, though, was one of dustiness and neglect. I’d like to go back after a rainy day, though.
Access to this park has been closed for several years at this point due to renovations. I have no idea why it’s still shown as open on Maps, or why the government website doesn’t list it as closed when it’s been closed for several years with probably several more years to wait until it reopens.
