Had such a great dinner experience at Maysa out on the terrace. The food and cocktails were 10/10 and service was amazing. Can’t wait to come back!
For a Thai Restaurant that's opened less than 6 months in Balmain, it sure was delightful to see it packed with people enjoying the ambience and their meals. Being my first time, I found it to be an ideal place for an evening out with family and friends...the food was amazing - fresh and busting with flavours. The staff - attentive and pleasant, oh and you have to try their cocktails🍸🍹, bliss!!!
We had a great experience at this Thai restaurant. The food here is extremely fresh and high quality and delicious! Everything has a delightful flavour with umami and warm undertones and everything is very fresh. The Pad See Ew noodles were delightfully squishy and soft with a perfect char and a good amount of vegetables. The flavour was very hearty and umami with the perfect sweetness and saltiness and not spicy at all which is perfect for me. My companions really enjoyed their duck curry which was very fresh and aromatic with a bold hit of spices as well. Me and my companions each enjoyed a different selection of the Bao Buns. Mine was the Smoked Eggplant Bao Bun which was so soft and fluffy with a perfectly fried eggplant in the middle. The cocktails were delicious and quote unique. I tried this apple and butterscotch cocktail which was so refreshing and yummy. The ambiance of the restaurant is very warm and inviting and relaxed with warm mood lighting that wasn't overly bright which I really appreciate. The seating is comfortable and the tables are spacious. The serving sizes of the food are generous for decent prices. You definitely get a heaping of fresh food on your plate. The service is welcoming and friendly and very accommodating. They go above and beyond to cater for our needs. I cannot fault anything at this restaurant and I would definitely recommend it for any occasion or meal.
It was a great experience overall. We started with Antipodes sparkling water and a lychee martini, which was really good. For starters, the crispy chicken bao bun was excellent and full of flavour, and the steamed barramundi sago was very flavourful and well balanced. For mains, I had the sweet and sour crispy chicken, while my partner ordered the crab meat with young coconut curry (Khua Poo Maprawn Aon), served with coconut rice. This dish was the standout and felt truly authentic, capturing the flavours of Thailand and reminding us of home. It was great to see an Eastern Thailand dish on the menu, as many Thai restaurants do not offer this. Service was friendly, kind, and accommodating. The restaurant has a modern, clean feel. We sat outside, which was warm, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet, while the inside also looked very welcoming. Value for money is very respectable for a place that feels quite luxurious. Portions were generous, and it is definitely better enjoyed dining in and relaxing. They also offer vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options, which is a big plus. Highly recommend if you are looking for authentic Thai food in Balmain.
We walked in without a booking on a Friday night and got lucky with a table, the place was full! The food was incredible - the pork fried rice was amazing. I haven’t stopped thinking about it all week. Both dishes were full of flavour. We will be back
