Nice little area and park, ferry stop. Little walk thru library on way down ferry ramp. Small parking area, with wheelchair spots.
A really great park for a visit, with a water side walk round to Mort Park. There is so much history to ballast point itself, and it has been wonderfully converted to a series of spaces to walk or hang out in. There is artworks as well. Parking was easy, there are toilets and picnic areas. The walk around to Mort Park has lots of fascinating places to explore. I highly recommend this as a destination for a casual easy outing.
This is one of the most unique parks in Sydney. I love how they have kept the old industrial history (using the old rubble for walls), but the best part is the view. Looking across the water, you get this really cool vibe with the colourful warehouses and industrial buildings on the other side. It’s not your typical "beach view," but it’s really artistic and interesting to look at. A great spot for a walk and some unique photos.
Ballast Point Park is an award-winning, 2.6 ha recreational area in Birchgrove on the Balmain Peninsula, with scenic Harbour and city skyline views to take in. This waterfront park was once a thriving industrial site, and its current design has preserved much of the area’s industrial past. One of the park's most interesting features is the way the site's history has been brought to life for visitors through design, art and poetry, including: Tank 101: a structure to symbolise the site's working harbour history Delicate Balance: an artwork that represents the use of sandstone from the site as ballast for European ships well worth a visit.
Also nice view of the harbour bridge. You can also view the colourful houses/shops (dont know what that place is called - see photos). We walked around. Nice to read a book or go picnic. 💚
