The Dry Dock in Balmain has a Public House and a separate Dining Room. Dogs are welcome on-lead in the Public House areas — not the Dining Room. The food across both sides is well-regarded. Gladstone Park is around 420 metres away for a walk along the harbour.
Dogs welcome in Public House areas on lead. Dogs not permitted in Dining Room.
Absolutely loved our visit to The Dry Dock! The food was incredible and we had a magnificent day. A big shoutout to our server, who gave us fantastic recommendations and explained the specials perfectly. We did notice a slight disconnect with our booking notes, as the staff seemed a bit unprepared for our two dietary requirements when we arrived. However, they handled it well and the clear options made up for it. An awesome experience overall—we will definitely be back!
Okkk, stop here! Firstly, Service is top notch - the manager of the dining, Benjamin gave great recommendations and was so personable. He was giving unmatchable energy and hospitality, you don’t really get in Sydney that often. Cocktails were also great - bar manager knows what she’s doing with training other staff. Also the fireplace 🔥 is the best spot if you want cozy vibes!! Highlights - zucchini flowers, tuna tartar and salt cod croquette melts in your mouth. Wowieeee👅👅👅
We visited Dry Dock bar and dining room in Balmain late on a Friday evening and left very impressed. The bar had an extensive wine and cocktail list. Our martini was wonderfully made. The restaurant has a French menu that we really enjoyed. Highlights were the anchovies en croute, steak tartare and DD cheeseburger. The anchovies were a revelation that paired fantastically with our drinks. The burger was cooked to our liking - pink and juicy in the middle. We didn’t really need dessert but couldn’t resist the Strawberry Trifle and Valrhona Chocolate cake. The service was friendly and impeccable. The dining room and kitchen really deserved their One Chefs Hat from SMH Good Food Guide. We felt like regulars even though it was our first visit. Thank you DD staff for a great night!
Came here for lunch and was not disappointed. 10 out of 10. Service was slick, food was amazing. Atmosphere was great, very busy and no wonder. Could not fault this venue in any way. Had the baguette, duck liver parfait, salt cod croquette, steak frites, octopus and Balmain bug and a lovely bottle of wine. Our waitress Roberta was friendly and engaging, attentive, pleasant and extremely professional, as were all the other staff that served us. Highly recommend this venue. Congratulations to all staff and management. Will definitely be back.
Had an excellent dining experience here. The steak was cooked perfectly — exactly as ordered, tender and full of flavour. The pâté was smooth and beautifully balanced, highlight dish of the restaurant and the profiteroles were the perfect way to finish the meal — light, indulgent and not overly sweet. Service was friendly and welcoming. It was a little slow at the beginning as staff weren’t very attentive, but once things got going, everything flowed smoothly. Great spot even for a solo diner — comfortable atmosphere and easy to just enjoy a good meal without feeling out of place. Would definitely return.
