If you’re heading to Bondi with a serious appetite, Hurricane’s Grill & Bar is an institution for a reason. While Bondi can often feel overpriced, Hurricane’s remains a reliable go-to for travelers and locals alike. Unbeatable Portions The portion sizes here are legendary. Whether you order the signature pork ribs or a prime steak, expect a plate that is practically overflowing. Their "Full Rack" of ribs is massive enough to challenge even the hungriest diner, and their burgers—packed with 300g of beef—dwarf standard restaurant offerings. Solid Value for Money In a prime beachside location where "small plates" usually come with big price tags, Hurricane’s offers genuine value. * Large Mains: Most main courses are served with a choice of heavy-duty sides (like their famous baked potato with sour cream or chunky fries), making it easy to skip starters. * Sharing Potential: Because the platters are so substantial, many groups find it cost-effective to share a few "Combo" plates (like the Steak & Ribs combo), which brings the cost per person down significantly without anyone leaving hungry.
A massive thank you to the staffs. We were at the restaurant when the gun shooting happened today. Every customer was scared and some were crying, the staffs helped us calm down by remaining calm themselves. They quickly locked the door, and made sure we hid at the back and under the table, keeping everything in order at that difficult time. I can’t say thank you enough. I have no idea how you guys could be so professional, kind and calm, you have good hearts and you are so capable, really really impressive. I wanted to say thank you properly after the area calmed down, you were busy with cleaning the place so I just said a simple thank you, I hope you can see this review. This is the first time I visited Hurricanes Grill and I was with my family. We were so grateful for everything you did, your kindness, and professionalism. Another small thing is that, the staff taking our order asked where we came from and said “thank you” to us in our language. We really appreciate that.
Each dish tasted like it was made with great care. The seasoning was not overpowering, yet full of deep flavor, making it enjoyable for everyone. From the first bite, it made me think That was a really good meal However, there were quite a lot of flies while eating, which made the experience a bit difficult. That said, Cristina warm smile and kindness truly made the food taste even better, and I’m very grateful for her friendly service. Thank you CRISTINA
Walked 6 km from Coogee to Bondi and ending the route at Hurricane’s felt like a reward in itself. 2 of us shared a combo: signature pork ribs + 300g wagyu steak, plus sweet potato fries, mushroom sauce, herbs & garlic butter, and a Caesar salad. Left the place full and happy. No dish disappointed. - Signature Pork Ribs: Tender, glossy, and way more balanced than I expected. Thought it’d be too sweet or salty because of the glaze, but the seasoning was spot on. - Steak: Ordered medium rare. Leaner cut, so it didn’t get heavy or overly fatty. - Sweet Potato Fries: Highly recommend. Light natural sweetness, soft almost pumpkin-like texture inside, crispy and lightly salted outside. Pairs perfectly with steak. - Caesar Salad: Not a fan of the anchovy pieces; but overall still fresh and well-seasoned. - Sauces: Mushroom sauce wins over the herbs & garlic butter. Would try the pepper sauce next time. - Water: Tap water is free; sparkling is $14. Spacious, airy, clean space - ideal after a long walk. Service was great; both our server and the owner were soft-spoken and genuinely attentive.
I liked the ribs - we had lamb and beef combo. The garlic bread was nice too, but gnocchi was a bit too salty. I'd stick to the ribs!
