Up South Bondi is a cafe where dog access has not yet been confirmed — it's worth checking before you visit.
Visited today morning and unfortunately had a disappointing experience with both food quality and food handling. The chicken was served undercooked/raw in the middle even though it was already pre-cut and plated before serving. After informing the staff, we were told the chef would remake the dish. However, the same bowl appeared to be returned after only reheating the chicken, including the same piece we had already bitten into on the spoon, while the other food that had already been in contact with the raw chicken was not replaced. We were also disappointed with the chef’s reaction when the dish was returned, as the undercooked chicken should normally have been noticed before serving. Prawn crackers were also extremely oily and difficult to eat.
Yuuuum great cafe. Came early on a Friday around 12:15pm and managed to get a seat! Tried the new menu - thick yoghurt was delightful and the breakfast for champions was solid. Also tried their Sydney’s best iced latte - loved the hints of kinder bueno and the ice cream!
Their new menu was so yum! The Korean-style iced latte was creamy and not too sweet My fav was the Breakfast of Champions, with a super flavoursome jus and tender steak 🤩 Scrambled eggs were silky and done well The thicc yoghurt was well balanced and tasty when paired with granola + fruits!
Dirtiest place I've eaten in since I learned the difference between clean and worn, and dirty and unkempt. The Health Department has visited since my report and "ordered a through cleaning". This place, the things they use (aside from table ware) hadn't had a good clean in a very long time. The food was uninspiring. If you'd had the fish tacos in your fave bar, you'd have forgotten them between sips. Good crunch, no lunch (fish was maybe 75g total, maybe) pureed avo isn't the best thought here either. Lacking acid, though the flour tortilla were fine. The fritter was ok too. The coffee looked pretty but was a solid 10c degrees higher than quality 60c standard. And those plastic water cups. Putrid smell from a long life of dosing microplastics into water. It's been remodelled recently. But to its disadvantage.
Good brunch spot, the food quality and portion sizes are amazing, but there's lots of small details that I feel like would make the place even better. The drinks looked to be made in a bit of a rush, for example the biscoff rim was patchy and messy, and the latte cup didn't match the portion size of the drink itself. The bathrooms had a stale pee smell a broken soap dispenser and had a lot of fruit flies. I think they may have forgotten to salt the chips in the brisket sandwich. These aren't deal breakers or anything but it does give off the impression that there's no passion in this place. I would really love to see a mini revamp of this place especially since it's in such a good spot so close to the beach and seems to have so much potential.
We check council regulations, official sources, and community reviews to verify dog access at every venue. Access may change — always check on-site signage. Something wrong or missing? Submit feedback. How it works.
