Tamarama Beach Park is a small park behind the beach at Tamarama with a playground, BBQ facilities and shade. Dogs are welcome on-leash in the park, kept under control and clear of the beach itself. It is an easy spot for a walk with a coastal outlook. A pleasant on-leash park by the sea.

I walked 🚶‍♀️ around here through the week to see the Sculptures by the Sea 🌊 event that was held between Bondi and Tamarama Beach ⛱️. The sculptures were great. The beach ⛱️ has a cafe, chairs 💺, toilets 🚻, benches, life-saving facilities, small playground, water bubbler, plus plaques about the history of the beach. HISTORY Tamarama Beach park and gully provided a range of freshwater, coastal, and hinterland food sources. Aboriginal heritage studies have indicated that Tamarama was an attractive camp-site location for Aboriginal people with multiple sources of shelter available within the beach, park, and gully, and that people moved through locations as the weather changed. 1887-1891 The Royal Aquarium and pleasure grounds was an open air amusement park behind Tamarama Beach and on the northern headland known as the Bondi Aquarium it opened in 1887 with a Grand Military band, merry go round🎠, swings, shooting gallery, water boats 🚢, camera 📷 abscura, Punch and Judy show, and dancing 💃. The aquarium was a chief attraction and included catfish and seal 🦭 pond who shared their watery domain with a solitary penguin 🐧. In 1891, a fire 🔥 destroyed the aquarium and dance🕺 hall, which was rebuilt. The site was sold in 1906 and then was transformed into Wonderland city by its new owners. Wonderland closed in 1911 due to poor crowds and low revenue. 1906- Today, Tamarama Surf 🏄‍♂️ life saving club was formed in 1906 and is one of Australia's first surf 🏄‍♀️ life saving club. Since the 1960s, the club has delivered the national Nippers program coordinated by Surf Life Saving Australia. The program provides participants (5-14 years) with surf 🏄‍♀️ safety training, competition, and leadership development. The club also established the Holly Days program it encouraged Indigenous children from La Percuse to become surf 🏄‍♀️ lifesavers. The program received the 2000 Pauline McLeod Reconciliation Award from the Eastern Region Local Government Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Forum. The original clubhouse was built in 1908 it was a small wooden hut it burnt down in 1938. The new clubhouse, built in an art 🎨 deco style, was opened on 5 May 1940 In 1915, Tamarama Beach earned its place in Australian film 🎥 history when it was used as the location for Anzac Cove, in the World War l silent film 🎥 drama, The Hero of the Dardanelles.

Tamarama Beach and Park is one of Waverley’s most significant beach reserves. The Park has a food and beverage kiosk, amenities building with change rooms, showers and toilets including a universally accessible toilet, barbecue, picnic shelter and playground.

I loved stopping at the kiosk at Tamarama Beach Park for a drink and a snack while I walked the coastal trail from Bondi to Coogee.
