Sean's is a cafe in North Bondi where dog access has not yet been confirmed — it's worth checking before you visit.
Haven't been here in over two decades and it still doesn't disappoint. Our small group had the 3 course set menu with some wine. Service was impeccable, the food, delicious. I'm not a huge chicken fan when fine dining, but their take on a roast chook was *chef's kiss*. The complimentary oysters were also so, so creamy. Parking was easy, but expensive. Absolute local gem.
Service was mainly very good - waiters could’ve been a bit more friendly but were attentive and professional. They forgot to bring plates for the bread at the beginning and were in general just a little dry. Not saying it was bad but I felt they didn’t go above and beyond to be enthusiastic. Food was really good! It felt like a very homely meal and the atmosphere although a little cramped inside at times with not much space had a beautiful bondi view (though the weather wasn’t good the day we went). There was also great decor inside and the interior is well designed inside the intimate restaurant. It felt very exclusive to be there. Special mention to the chicken which was amazing.
We had a fantastic late lunch at Sean’s in North Bondi and had such a great time. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, perfect for a long lunch by the beach. The food was fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavour every dish felt thoughtful and delicious. A special shout out to our waiter, who made the experience even better. The service was friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm, which really added to the whole afternoon. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend Sean’s for a great meal and great service in North Bondi.
Unfortunately, our experience echoed many of the other reviews here about Sean’s. My partner and I had high hopes, but we were ultimately let down by the food, particularly given the price of the set menu. The restaurant itself is lovely, with a great interior and atmosphere. The service was also excellent—staff were attentive, welcoming, and genuinely fun to interact with, which helped make the evening enjoyable. However, the food was the biggest disappointment. The entrées were average at best and lacked the “something special” you would expect from a restaurant of this calibre. The mains were fine, with the snapper being a standout, but overall they still didn’t justify the price point. Desserts were particularly underwhelming and felt more like simple home-style dishes than a restaurant finale. Walking away unsatisfied after spending that amount was disappointing. While the service and setting were strong, the food didn’t deliver. Unfortunately, it’s a one-and-done for us at Sean’s.
Sean’s was great! We’d seen a few mixed reviews about the food and service, but everything was excellent. Definitely make a reservation, we saw a couple turned away because it was so busy. The service was attentive, and the food was fantastic. The only small miss was that they forgot the roe on our potato cake, but honestly, we didn’t even notice until afterward because everything else was so good. Highly recommend!
