Stayed in the hotel rooms above the pub and it was just perfect! Clean, so pretty and well styled. So comfortable. Staff at check in were so accommodating and helpful. Hotel parking was a great price. Food and drinks and atmosphere at the pub fantastic!

Great pub right on the beach. An sit and look at the water while having a beer. Happy hour on Monday arvos is great, cheap beers. Good pool table area and gaming. Beer garden is huge, great spot to sit and eat with large groups. Food is expensive but nice.

Incredibly overpriced. They advertise $6 schooners that are actually $9.50 during happy hour. Security is genuinely rude, awful and are often quite physical especially around the later hours. The sitting is decent and the view is acceptable, but despite the poor experience, unfortunately this is the only bar in the suburb so it is difficult to compare. While the Coogee bay hotel has a really bad history, especially with the legal case around the member of staff who shat in someone’s icecream, due to the limited options of bars in the area, it is one of the only options if you don’t want to grab a few drinks by the bottle shop nearby and head up the hill. Some days it’s a decent option you’ll have to fall back on.

We had a great experience at Coffee Bay Hotel. The food was really good, and the portion sizes were generous, which was a nice bonus. Definitely good value for money. A solid spot if you’re after a satisfying meal — we left full and happy.

I stayed here many times over the years to photograph the scuba trail at Gordons Bay for world sofa org. In the old days they had a really amazing and delicious cook-your-own steak deal in the restaurant. It wasn't just the cindery sizzling steak and crunchy salads they'd serve with it, it wasn't even the fact that the steak was always exactly how you wanted it - it was because, while it was cooking, you got to talk to people from all over the world. It was great fun, except for this one time when we struck up a convo with a guy from Scotland. My mate from Ireland and my mate from Glasgow, were no help in trying to understand him. He was about 7 feet tall, and he had an accent like nobody had ever heard before. I think it was English he was speaking, and we got through because we smiled a lot. Since those days our chinese restaurant opposite the pub has given way to a turkish, a fruit bar, and a north indian diner with really superb curries. The huge and gorgeous eatery at the Hotel is still superb also, and there is a place to sit for every type of visitor, whether you are averse to cold, too much heat, the wrong wind direction or want to sit near or far from the bar. Best of all, the pool tables are still there, and anybody who removed theirs has seen a lack of clientele since..good news for pool players! Every type of place to stay nearby, from hostels to as many stars as you could want in a place. Hope you enjoy your visit! The older rooms have carpet and are a bit noisy some of them, and tend to be at the front. You can always ask for a room with a window you can open, or a quiet room, and they let me park out the back for free when i arrived late one night. Rusty :D
